And they’re rolling.

The Kings have now won four straight games, three of them coming in their resurgence back from the Olympic break.

Mike Richards found the net for the first time in 13 games, Alec Martinez solved the Kings’ power play woes, and Jonathan Quick was outstanding yet again in today’s 3-1 win over the Hurricanes at STAPLES Center.

The Kings came out of the gates moving their feet this afternoon, which drew a slew of first period penalties against Carolina, who committed four minor infractions in the first 20 minutes of play.

Carolina’s Anton Khubodin turned away the Kings on all three of their early man-advantage opportunities.

Mike Richards, however, managed to beat Khubodin during even-strength, sniping home a tough-angle goal up high and past Carolina’s netminder for his eighth goal of the season to give the Kings a 1-0 lead with :53.8 seconds left in the first period.

It was Richards’ first goal in 13 games, and just his second in 37 games.

The Hurricanes responded just :41 seconds later, as Andrej Sekera sent a wrist shot past Jonathan Quick to tie the game 1-1.

The second period was probably the least impressive for the Kings this afternoon, as they had difficulty sustaining any consistent pressure in Carolina’s zone, and failing to execute on another two power play opportunities.

The third period would see the Kings crack their power play woes, as Alec Martinez rifled home a shot through traffic on the Kings’ sixth power play of the afternoon for his fifth goal of the season to give the Kings a 2-1 lead with 11:45 left to play in regulation.

Justin Williams, a former Hurricane, sealed the deal against his old team, making things official with an empty-net goal to give the Kings a 3-1 lead with 61 seconds left on the clock.

Jonathan Quick, after making 25 saves Thursday in Calgary, stopped 24 shots today against Carolina. Quick, in his two games back from the Olympic break, has now stopped 49 of the 50 shots that have come his way.

During their current four-game win streak, the Kings have outscored opponents 13-6.

Dustin Brown has looked rejuvenated since returning from Sochi, as he’s recorded four points (1G, 3A) in the Kings’ three games back.

Now with a 34-22-6 record, which is good for 74 points, the Kings now sit at sixth-place in the Western Conference.

The Kings host the Montreal Canadians Monday night at STAPLES Center.
