LOS ANGELES, CA – Call it a triumphant return home, as the Kings clicked on all cylinders from start to finish in tonight’s 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars at STAPLES Center. The offense that struggled to score during their four game road-swing through the Southeast suddenly came back to life en rout to a commanding win – which is their fifth victory in their last six games.

Justin Williams and Anze Kopitar chimed in with three points apiece, Jake Muzzin notched two assists in his return to Darryl Sutter’s lineup, and Kyle Clifford tallied his first goal of the young season.

Add sound defense and yet another solid performance (21 saves) from Jonathan Quick into the mix, and that completes the positive, and rather impressive performance from this Kings club tonight.

As difficult as it is to believe, tonight’s win was only the second one in regulation this season for the Kings. Four of their six wins have come in extra time; three of them in the shootout round, and one in overtime.

The Kings were also able to get off the powerplay schneid, finally scoring a goal on the man-advantage for the first time in their last 15 opportunities, and for the first time since October 9th against the Ottawa Senators.

WILLY-NILLY: The Kings’ offensive outburst tonight was ignited by Justin Williams and his two first-period goals. He came strikingly close to burying his third for a hat trick, but to no avail. Williams’ most impressive play of the night, however, was his magnificent pass to Drew Doughty that led the pinching defenseman to a beautiful position to score the Kings’ third goal of the night, and the eventual game-winner.

WHERE THE HEART IS: The boys are sticking around town for a bit, with seven of their next eight games slated to be played on home ice at STAPLES Center. The Kings are 2-1-0 on home ice so far this season.

PACIFIC STRETCH: Beginning Monday night with a date against the Calgary Flames, the Kings will see a Pacific Division opponent in each of their next five contests, a stretch that will start to develop gaps in points between teams in the division as the season continues to carry on.
