Make it rain, Los Angeles.

The weather outside Wednesday put a refreshing damper in the air. The sticks of Dustin Brown and Jeff Carter rejuvenated a Kings offense that up until tonight, had been grey as today’s skies.

Improvement was the expectation from the team and it’s surroundings, and in the Kings second showing at STAPLES Center this season, it certainly was the case.

On what was a rather chilly night in downtown Los Angeles, the Kings began their evening in a heated pursuit of rebounding from their previous – and opening performance in front of home fans on Monday.

First impressions aren’t everything.

Monday night’s offensive struggle was quickly forgotten. The Kings buried three first-period goals to instantly put the Ottawa Senators on their heels, and the sold-out STAPLES Center crowd into a raucous, invigorated spirit.

Dustin Brown (1,2) and Jeff Carter (3,4) chimed in for two goals apiece, getting help from Anze Kopitar and Mike Richards, who both accounted for two assists apiece tonight.

Jonathan Quick looked calm and collected in the crease, stopping 22 of Ottawa’s 25 shots.

Jeff Carter’s early season offensive onslaught continues. He now has five points in the first four games of the season.

Anze Kopitar, with his pair of assists tonight, passed Jim Fox as the eighth all-time leader scoring in franchise history.

The dominance of the Ottawa Senators in Los Angeles continued it’s long trending path tonight in the Kings 4-3 OT victory. They are now 1-12-1 when playing in tinseltown.
