GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -Jonathan Quick's formula for success is simple.
"I just stop the puck," said Quick, who made 30 saves for his second shutout in three games in the Los Angeles Kings' 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night. "It's all I really have to do."
Quick's shutout came in just his eighth career game and sixth start. He had his first career shutout Tuesday night in a 3-0 victory at Columbus.
Alexander Frolov scored twice, Jarret Stoll had a goal and an assist, and Raitis Ivanans added a goal for the Kings, who won for the second time in three games.
Ilya Bryzgalov made 26 saves for the Coyotes, who lost for the third time in four games but failed to earn a point for only the second time in their last 10 games.
"Tonight we were flat and there really is no excuse for it," Phoenix captain Shane Doan said. "You need to be ready to go every night and tonight we didn't have the jump that we needed."
Los Angeles scored three times in the final 5:54 of the first period.
Ivanans opened the scoring at 14:06 when he beat Bryzgalov on a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle.
Frolov added a power-play goal at 17:27 when his shot from the high slot deflected off Phoenix defenseman Kurt Sauer and Stoll capped the scoring with 19.1 seconds to go - also on the power play - on a wrist shot from the middle of the right faceoff circle.
"You always want to get the first goal in this game," said Kings coach Terry Murray. "We tried to come out hard, we got pucks on the net and at least gave ourselves the opportunity for the first goal."
The Kings finished 2-for-6 with the man advantage.
Frolov scored his second at 9:56 of the second when the puck bounced into the low slot and onto his stick for an easy wrist shot into the right side of the net as Bryzgalov drifted to the left.
Phoenix's best scoring chance came with 2:54 left in the second period when Derek Morris' hard wrist shot from the right point bounced off the left post.
The Coyotes were 0-for-7 on the power-play including a pair of 5-on-3 advantages.
"We had a power play early in the hockey game and we failed to pretty much even get into their zone and that set the tone of the hockey game," Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said. "Our power play was definitely a negative tonight."
Notes: The Kings matched their largest margin of victory this season, reached twice before, both against St. Louis. ... Frolov has 11 goals in his last 18 games. ... Bryzgalov lost in regulation for the first time since Dec. 7. ... Coyotes backup goalie Mikael Tellqvist took off his baseball cap and put on his mask after the Kings' fourth goal, but Phoenix coach Wayne Gretzky elected to keep him on the bench. ... The Coyotes had not been shut out since a 4-0 loss at Minnesota on Nov. 13.
