NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -This trick was a long time in the making.

Jason Arnott recorded his first hat trick in more than two years and the Nashville Predators snapped a five-game losing streak by beating Los Angeles 4-3 Saturday night and sending the Kings to their seventh straight loss.

Arnott scored 2:34 in to give the Predators a 1-0 lead. He took a pass from Jordin Tootoo as they entered the Los Angeles zone on a 2-on-1. Tootoo fed Arnott in the low slot, and Arnott redirected it past goalie Jason LaBarbera.

"Jordin is known for his aggressiveness, but he can also make plays," Arnott said. "He showed great energy and great skill to set me up on the first goal."

Lubomir Visnovsky got Los Angeles even at 11:10, and the Kings took a 2-1 lead on Patrick O'Sullivan's short-handed goal midway through the second period.

O'Sullivan scored the Kings final goal of the game, as well.

"I felt good," O'Sullivan said. "I tried to skate as much as I could and tried to create some offense.

"We did what we could, and it wasn't good enough."

Predators defenseman Ryan Suter tied it 2:20 later with his fifth goal of the season.

Arnott's second goal came at 14:21 of the second period. With Nashville on the power play, Arnott's wrist shot from the left circle dot beat LaBarbera to the glove side.

The Kings' best chance to tie it came in the waning minutes of the second period when they had two power-play opportunities including 1:09 of a two-man advantage.

"Our defense did a great job of blocking shots on the 5-on-3," Nashville goalie Dan Ellis said. "It was a big kill and a big momentum booster for us."

The Predators have killed off 44 of 47 power plays they have faced in their last 12 games.

Arnott completed the hat trick at 3:04 of the final period. From the low left circle, Arnott's shot went into the net off LaBarbera's right skate.

"I didn't even see him," LaBarbera said. "It was kind of on my blindside, and I didn't even see him shoot it."

"It's nice to get the hat trick, but the win is even bigger," Arnott said. "If we would have lost, it would have been pretty devastating."

The hat trick was the seventh of Arnott's career, and first with the Predators. His last one came on Nov. 16, 2005, at Anaheim when he was with Dallas.

"(Arnott) was great," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said of his captain. "Tonight he knew this game was really important for us, and he gets a hat trick for us."

J.P. Dumont added two assists for the Predators.

Los Angeles came up empty on their six power-play opportunities.

Notes: The Predators had lost seven of eight. ... Arnott played his 100th game with Nashville. ... Both of Visnovsky's goals on the season have come against Nashville. ... Ladislav Nagy earned an assist on Visnovsky's goal for his 300th NHL point. ... Despite entering Saturday with the NHL's 28th-ranked power play, Nashville has scored five power-play goals in their last 16 man-advantage opportunities.
