GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Curtis Joseph is not certain whether he has played his last home game in a Phoenix Coyotes uniform.

Joseph, named the team's most valuable player before the game, made 32 saves for his 46th career shutout and the Coyotes beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-0.

The announced crowd of 17,386 stood and chanted "Cujo" over the game's final minute.

"I didn't hear the chanting but the crowd gave us a nice lift at the end of the game," said Joseph, who earlier this season amassed his 400th win and moved into sixth place on the career victories list.

The Kings, who have lost four straight and seven of nine, were eliminated from the Western Conference playoff race late in the second period when Edmonton beat Anaheim 3-2.

"If we're not going to make the playoffs we underachieved," said Kings interim coach John Torchetti.

Joseph's shutout was his third of the season and first since he made 21 saves in a 4-0 win over Los Angeles on Nov. 3. He ranks fourth among active goaltenders in shutouts.

"Curtis was what Curtis has been all year for us," coach Wayne Gretzky said.

Gretzky said the Coyotes are interested in bringing the likely Hall of Fame goaltender back if he's interested in returning.

"If he would like to come back, we would like to work something out to see him come back," Gretzky said.

Derek Morris, Keith Ballard and Fredrik Sjostrom scored for the Coyotes, who snapped a five-game winless streak.

"I think that we had a tremendously respectable road record, which means that we play as hard on the road as we do at home," Gretzky said. "But we need to be 80-20 instead of 50-50 as far as winning and losing. That was the difference in our year in a nutshell."

Los Angeles' best scoring chance came on a 2-on-1 break late in the second period, but Joseph stopped Mike Weaver's shot to preserve the shutout. He also made a tough save on a deflected, knuckling shot midway through the third period.

Morris broke a scoreless tie 66 seconds into the second period, beating Mathieu Garon from the bottom of the right faceoff circle for the first of the Coyotes' two power-play goals.

Ballard made it 2-0 with a short-handed goal at 15:35 of the period, capping a 3-on-2 break with a slap shot from the high slot.

"They were a little late getting back," Ballard said. "It wasn't really where I wanted to put it but I've had enough good shots that didn't go in so it was good to get a bad shot that did."

Sjostrom extended the lead to 3-0 with 46.7 seconds to play in the second when he one-timed a Steven Reinprecht pass from between the circles.

The Coyotes matched a season high with 10 power-play opportunities. Los Angeles was 0-for-9 with the man advantage and has just two power-play goals in its last 49 opportunities spanning eight games.

"We had both our power play and penalty kill go south," said Kings forward Craig Conroy.

Phoenix killed off three two-man advantages for Los Angeles.

"I saw the puck very well and the guys were clearing the rebounds for me so that's a good combination," Joseph said.

Garon, who allowed the three goals on 18 shots, was replaced at the start of the third period by Jason LaBarbera.

Notes: The Coyotes finished 19-18-4 at home despite finishing 4-8-2 in their last 14 at Glendale Arena. ... Los Angeles is 3-7 since John Torchetti took over for Andy Murray as Kings' coach.
