ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ The Anaheim Mighty Ducks finally had enough of their Southern California neighbors.

Sergei Fedorov, Vaclav Prospal and Steve Rucchin each scored third-period goals to lift the Mighty Ducks to a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

Fedorov scored his second goal of the game 2:43 into the third period, Prospal scored just 1:35 later and Rucchin finished the scoring at 10:12 of the third to give the Ducks (1-3-1) their first win over Los Angeles this season.

After being outplayed for most of a 2-1 loss at Los Angeles on Saturday, the Ducks concentrated on improving their physical play Sunday. The tone began early when Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere raced from the crease to track down Kings forward Sean Avery after Avery had words for Giguere.

``You have to stand up to those guys, they are our neighbors and we hate each other,'' said Giguere, who made 41 saves. ``We wanted to send them a message.''

With the game tied 3-3 early in the third, Fedorov intercepted a pass by Los Angeles defenseman Brad Norton in the offensive zone and ripped a wrist shot past goalie Cristobal Huet.

``I was on my way to back check and I knew their defense could only make a pass across, so I put my stick on the ice hoping to get the puck,'' Fedorov said. ``Sure enough there was a pass on the ice and I was able to intercept it.''

After Prospal scored on a wrist shot from the right circle, Rucchin blasted a slap shot by Huet to position the Ducks for the victory.

The Kings had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped (3-0-1). It was Huet's first loss in five starts since Roman Cechmanek went on injured reserve with groin injury.

Huet was replaced by Mathieu Chouinard after yielding the sixth Ducks goal. His day became considerably more difficult when Kings defenseman Mattias Norstrom became a late scratch when his wife went into labor.

``We had six NHL defenseman dressed, the problem is the six we had out on the ice didn't get the job done,'' Kings coach Andy Murray said.

Fedorov also added an added an assist, and Prospal had two assists.

``We got a big game from Sergei,'' Rucchin said. ``The guys we count on showed up.''

The Ducks took a 3-1 lead in the opening period before the Kings rallied with two goals in the second to tie it.

Fedorov opened the scoring 6:35 in on a power play with a shot from the right point.

The teams then combined for three goals in 45 seconds.

Derek Armstrong tied it at 14:47. Fourteen seconds later, Anaheim center Jason Krog flipped the puck from the left boards toward the slot, and Cam Severson one-timed a shot under Huet.

Just 31 seconds later, Petr Schastlivy swiped in a rebound to give the Ducks a 3-1 lead.

Los Angeles defenseman Joe Corvo scored on a slap shot 2:32 into the second period to close the gap to 3-2. Jozef Stumpel tied it with a wrist shot from the left circle over Giguere's left shoulder during a power play at 16:23 of the second.

``It was deflating to lose the game,'' Corvo said. ``It seemed like an uphill climb. We just ran out of time and put ourselves in that hole.''
