6 Things To Watch For On Fox Sports West
Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

KINGS (12-6-1) at DEVILS (6-7-5)

REFILL: The Kings see the New Jersey Devils for the first time since June 11th, 2012, when they won the Stanley Cup. They haven’t skated in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center since Game five of that series on June 9th, 2012 – where they fell 2-1. Justin Williams scored the lone goal for the Kings in that contest, can he find the net tonight?

OFF THE SCHNEID-ER: After the Devils announced that newly-acquired Corey Schneider was the “number one guy” in goal back in October, Martin Brodeur has reeled off a ridiculous 5-1-0 record in his last six games with a 1.17 GAA and .949 SV%. Corey Schneider is expected to be in the crease tonight against the Kings. He’s carrying an 1-4-3 record with a 2.09 GAA and .915 SV%. Let’s go.

NIGHT AFTER NIGHT: When you’re young, you can do anything. Can the Kings’ youth boost continue its success? Tyler Toffoli has seven points (3G, 4A) in five games since being called up from the Manchester Monarchs, Linden Vey has three points (3A) since his call-up, and Tanner Pearson has a goal in his debut after he was called-up Wednesday. Who’s going back-to-back tonight in Newark?

SCRIVENS FOR TWO: Goaltender Ben Scrivens allowed two goals in a quick 2:14 span against the New York Islanders Thursday night. He was on-point and dependable during the other 57:46 of the contest, though. Scrivens has never played in two consecutive days as an NHL goaltender, but he has played in consecutive games. Can Scrivens sleep on it, and repeat?

CAUGHT STEALING: Ryan Clowe (head) and Patrick Elias (upper body) are both expected to miss tonight’s bout with the Kings. Maybe you could call it karma. Clowe obstructed play from the bench against the Kings in April 2012, and Elias “mistakenly” stole the puck that was being used when the Kings clinched their Stanley Cup Victory on June 11th, 2012 at STAPLES Center.

NO DOUGHTS: The last time the Kings won a regular season contest against the New Jersey Devils in Newark, New Jersey was on January 31st, 2010, when defenseman Drew Doughty rocketed home the winning-goal with just :27.2 seconds remaining on the clock. Doughty has four points (1G, 3A) in the Kings’ last four games. Can Doughty strike twine tonight for old times’ sake?

We’re seeing red in New Jersey.

Catch KINGS LIVE at 3:30 on FOX SPORTS WEST, followed by Bob and Jim on the play-by-play call for puck drop at 4:00 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
