6 Things To Watch For On Fox Sports West
Los Angeles Kings vs. Buffalo Sabres

KINGS (11-6-0) at SABRES (3-15-1)

4:00PM PT, TV: FOX SPORTS WEST; RADIO: AM 1150

YOU, AGAIN: Before Thursday night, it had been 760 days since the Kings skated with the Buffalo Sabres. Tonight, the Kings will see Buffalo for the second time in five days, and for the final time this season. A repeat of Thursday night’s shutout win would be magnificent. The Kings are making their first trip to Buffalo since November 19, 2010.

BUFFA-LOW: The Sabres continue to sit in the NHL’s basement, with just seven points to their credit, sporting a miserable 3-15-1 record through 19 contests. Home ice has been no help to them. The Sabres can’t find a way to win in Buffalo at the First Niagara Center. The Sabres are winless at home so far this season with a 0-8-1 mark. Can the Kings maintain Buffalo’s home-ice miseries tonight?

IT’S WORKING: The Kings are amidst a rather strong battle with player injuries, but they’re arguably playing their best hockey of the season right now. 10 different players on the roster recorded at least one point for the Kings in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Vancouver. Outstanding. There’s energy coming from the recently called up prospects (Toffoli, Vey), and there’s a will to prove something without important guys in the lineup.

NEW YORK AND JERSEY: The Kings are embarking on a four game road-swing through New York and New Jersey. After tonight in Buffalo, the Kings will be in Long Island to see the Islanders Thursday, Newark, New Jersey to see the Devils Friday, and New York City to see the Rangers Sunday. The Kings went a solid 3-1-0 during their previous four game road-trip (October 11th – 17th) through North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida in the Southeast.

GROUNDED BUT NOT DOWN: A few players won’t be making the trip to the Northeast, as Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reported that Head Coach Darryl Sutter has notioned that both Matt Greene and Kyle Clifford, along with the obvious Jeff Carter, will not be playing during the upcoming road trip. This is rather good news regarding Jarret Stoll’s status, however.

CALLING FOR BROWN: Dustin Brown has been quiet to start the season, to say the least. With just seven points in 17 games, and only a goal and an assist in his last six games, Brown isn’t producing on a team that has been struggling to look for an offensive leader this season. Can the Captain score against the Sabres just like he did when the Kings last visited Buffalo 1,087 days ago? He’s due, much like the Kings’ return to Buffalo, NY.
