7 Things To Watch For On Fox Sports West
Vancouver Canucks vs. Los Angeles Kings

CANUCKS (11-5-2) at KINGS (10-6-0)

7:00PM PT, TV: FOX SPORTS WEST; RADIO: AM 1150

IT’S VANCOUVER: The Kings have developed quite the rivalry with the Vancouver Canucks ever since these two clubs sparred in the Western Conference Quarterfinals in 2011 and 2012. The Kings have what the Canucks don’t from those postseason battles – a Stanley Cup Championship. The Kings struggled against the Canucks last season though, going 1-2-0 in three meetings.

CENTERS OF ATTENTION: Centermen on this roster were the target of blame for the team’s scoring woes earlier this season, but the offensive production from the faceoff gurus have been kicking in as of late. Anze Kopitar has goals in three straight games and 11 points (4G, 7A) in the last seven games. Mike Richards has eight points (4G, 4A) in his last seven games.

SAVE TONIGHT: The Kings venture off on a four-game road-swing through New York and New Jersey after tonight’s contest. They won’t be back home at STAPLES Center for 10 days until the Tampa Bay Lightning visit on November 19th. Including tonight, the Kings have played eight of their last nine contests at STAPLES Center, and have won seven of those contests. Can they snag another two hometown points tonight?

SLOPPY SECONDS: The Kings are playing a team that is coming off of a win over the San Jose Sharks in their previous game for the second straight game. The Sabres miraculously beat San Jose 5-4 Tuesday night, and the Canucks ousted the Sharks 4-2 last night. The Sharks doubled their regulation loss count in that two game span.

TRUE GRIT: The Kings will likely be without Jarret Stoll (upper body) and Matt Greene (‘banged up’) again tonight. Jeff Carter (lower body) is out indefinitely. Look to see Martinez again, and can you say Vey?

WILD WEST: The Kings are going through the motions in an extremely powerful Western Conference this season. Going through the motions isn’t going to do it. The Kings, with 20 points through 16 games, sit at 9th overall in the Western half. The Kings are shorthanded and behind in the standings. Tonight’s contest is the truest of tests for Darryl Sutter and this club.

TIME CHANGE: We’re catering to Canada. Make sure you get to STAPLES Center a bit earlier tonight. The puck drops a half an hour earlier than usual for tonight’s bout with Vancouver at 7:00 PM to fit into the time frame for the National Broadcast on CBC’s “Hockey Night In Canada”.
