6 Things To Watch For Tonight On Fox Sports West
Buffalo Sabres vs. Los Angeles Kings

SABRES (3-13-1) at KINGS (9-6-0)

BUFFAWHO?: The Kings do not see the Buffalo Sabres very often. In fact, the last meeting between these two clubs came on October 8th, 2011 – more than two years ago in Berlin, Germany as part of the NHL’s “Premiere Series”. The Sabres are 3-0-1 against the Kings since the 2008-’09 campaign. Can the Kings right the ship against Buffalo tonight?

DON’T CALL IT A ‘TRAP GAME’: It’s no secret the Buffalo Sabres are a horrendous hockey club this season. They’re coming to STAPLES Center with a lowly 3-13-1 record, which is good for dead-last in the entire league. The Kings, however, can’t afford to overlook Buffalo. The Sabres, who are amidst a three-game California swing, shocked the San Jose Sharks with a 5-4 shootout win Tuesday night – just their third win of the season.

REST ASSURED: The Kings haven’t played since Saturday night. The rest is needed, as Jeff Carter (lower body), Jarret Stoll (upper body), and Matt Greene (“banged up”) could use the hiatus for recovery. Carter will be out of the lineup again tonight, Stoll and Greene will be game-time decisions. The team as a whole, which practiced on three of their four off-days, should have embraced the time to sharpen their systems and chemistry following their out-of-sync performance on Saturday.

ROBYN’S REUNION: Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr will play against his former team for the first time since the Buffalo Sabres traded the veteran stay-at-home defenseman to the Kings on April 1st, 2013 for two second-round draft picks. Can Regehr’s insight and experience bode well for the Kings tonight?

FLAMMABLE: Anze Kopitar has 10 points (3G, 7A) in his last 10 games. Justin Williams has nine points (3G, 6A) in his last seven games. Mike Richards has six points (3G, 3A) in his last six games. Who’s got the hot hand tonight?

KOPITAR STRUT: Anze Kopitar, who has been averaging a point per game in the Kings’ previous 10 contests, buried both Kings goals in their last meeting against the Buffalo Sabres two years ago. Kopitar has eight points (2G, 6A) in his five career games against the Buffalo Sabres. Can Kopitar boost the Kings’ injury-plagued roster tonight with more personal success against the Sabres?
