7 Things To Watch For Tonight On Fox Sports West
Nashville Predators vs. Los Angeles Kings
PREDATORS (6-5-2) at KINGS (9-5-0)

KEEP AT IT: The Kings overcame their disappointing loss to Phoenix Tuesday night by beating the NHL’s best team, San Jose, Thursday night at STAPLES Center. The Kings have now won three straight contests at STAPLES Center, and are 4-1-1 against the Nashville Predators in their previous six meetings. The Kings beat Nashville 2-1 in a shootout on October 17th, can they do the same tonight?
BIG NAME PRODUCTION: The Kings have had inconsistent offensive production as an entire group this season, but a few players have been heating up in recent games. Anze Kopitar has eight points (2G, 6A) in his last six games, Justin Williams has eight points (3G, 5A) in his last six games, Mike Richards has five points (2G, 3A) in his last five games, and Drew Doughty has six points (3G, 3A) in his last six games. Who takes the offensive limelight tonight?
HOME ICE IS NICE: Taking care of home ice is crucial, even this early in the season. The Kings are 8-3-0 so far this year at STAPLES Center, and have three consecutive home games coming up before they leave for the East Coast on a four-game road trip through New York and New Jersey. Can the Kings continue to snag crucial points in front of home fans?
BEAT PEKKA: When the Kings played the Nashville Predators earlier this season on October 17th, Pekka Rinne was flawless – and so was Jonathan Quick. It was a definite battle of the goaltenders, as each goalie allowed only one goal apiece in regulation time, with the game being decided in the final round of a shootout. Scoring won’t come easy tonight, but can the Kings find a way to support Jonathan Quick in tonight’s elite goaltender matchup?
The Kings have called up two forwards from their AHL affiliate Manchester Monarchs. Tyler Toffoli and Linden Vey, who were the two leading scorers for Manchester so far this season, are joining a Kings offense that is in need of some sort of spark; a boost if you will. It is unclear if both players will be in the lineup tonight. Toffoli showcased his talents last season playing in 10 regular season games and scoring five (2G, 3A) points, and in 12 postseason games scoring six (2G, 4A) points. Can either of the youngsters electrify the Kings’ offense tonight?
CARRY ON: Tough news broke today, as it has been documented that Jeff Carter will be placed on the Injured Reserve list with an undisclosed lower-body injury he suffered on Wednesday night against San Jose. This obviously isn’t something that’s going to develop any positive outlooks or optimistic approaches. But, there’s no choice. The best thing the Kings can do for themselves and the fan base is to win tonight.
It'S A SELLOUT: The Kings will sell-out their 76th consecutive home game tonight at STAPLES Center, breaking a previous franchise record of 75 games. This current sell-out streak began on December 3rd, 2011. The previous sell-out streak of 75 games began on December 8th, 1990 and lasted until October 8th, 1992.
