Kings set to conclude road trip in Colorado
Los Angeles Kings vs. Colorado Avalanche
KINGS (18-12-1) AT AVALANCHE (19-10-4)

TV – PRIME (HD),ALT (HD)

Last 10: Los Angeles 5-4-1; Colorado 6-1-3.

Season Series – This is the second meeting between Colorado and Los Angeles. The teams will play two more times after Tuesday's game. Their first meeting this season resulted in a 6-4 victory for the Kings at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Big Story – The Kings look to cap off a five-game road trip above .500 with a win on Tuesday night, however they face an Avalanche squad that currently boasts its longest consecutive win streak of the season with six in a row.

Team Scope:

Kings – The Kings’ season started spectacularly with a six-game win streak in November; however, things have cooled off a bit as the club has lost three of its last five including a heartbreaking 3-2 loss the the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

"I thought we played a pretty good game, but a pretty good game against these guys is not good enough," forward Anze Kopitar said.

The Kings fought hard to come back from a one-goal deficit in the second period and were rewarded with a beautiful Kyle Clifford goal that was negated just a minute later when Chicago again took the lead.

"We're pretty disappointed in ourselves here," Clifford said. "We need to come out and play more consistent. We need to play as a team better. Our all-around game, there's no excuses. We just have to be better.''

Avalanche – Colorado couldn't look more promising at this point in the season, boasting 27 goals in its last six games without two of their top five scorers in the lineup. In the wake of numerous injuries earlier in the season other players on the Avalanche have stepped up notably to fill in offensively and Colorado continues to lead the League in goals scored with 119.

Colorado's 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday gave the young squad some confidence when they twice came from behind and TJ Galiardi, who recently returned from a wrist injury, notched the game winner late in the second period.

"We have a good thing going," Avalanche coach Joe Sacco told the Denver Post. "But we have to keep it going too. The one thing we want to guard against is not getting too high, and I think for the most part we do a good job of that. We should be proud of the way we're playing and proud of the fact that we've won six in a row, but you want to stay on an even keel. It's a long season."

Who’s Hot – Matt Duchene and Tomas Fleischmann were both named the NHL's first and second stars of the week on Tuesday with four goals and three assists each on the week – tops in the League over that span. … Anze Kopitar has notched seven points in his last five games and leads the Kings with 32 points on the season.

Injury Report – The Kings are without Brad Richardson, who was placed on injured reserve this week with an upper-body injury. …Milan Hejduk has missed the last five games with a groin injury. Peter Mueller (head), Kyle Cumiskey (head), Kyle Quincey (shoulder) and Chris Stewart (hand) are also out.

Stat Pack – On Tuesday, Colorado could attain its first seven-game win streak since winning eight straight Dec. 31-Jan. 17, 2006.

Puck Drop – The King’s announced this week that they will air an all-access show on LAKings.com in 2011 called LA Kings Undisputed.
