KINGS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
The LA Kings are proud to be an integral part of the Los Angeles community both on and off the ice. Kings community outreach is focused on enhancing educational, recreational and health-related programs for the youth of Greater Los Angeles. Kings players and members of the Kings family actively work with local youth-based organizations and community groups to increase awareness and raise funds to support the Kings signature community initiatives.

ROYAL READERS

LA Kings Royal Readers is a reading incentive program open to all elementary aged children in the Greater Los Angeles area. Members of the Kings family will stop by local schools to host school wide “reading rallies” that will encourage children to participate in the program. Those who reach their reading goal during the five week program will be given the opportunity to win prizes as well as an opportunity to attend a Kings game at STAPLES Center. |

| STORYTIME WITH THE KINGS | |

The Kings are proud to partner with several local library braches to host a summer storytime series hosted by Bailey, Kings alumni and the Ice Crew. Attendees have the opportunity to learn the “A-Z’s” of hockey and take part question and answer sessions. |

| READ ACROSS AMERICA | |

The Kings in partnership with the California Teachers Association were proud to continue their support of “Read Across America.” Bailey along with members of the Kings Ice Crew stopped by several local schools during the week of March 2 to help promote the importance of literacy and education. 2009 Read Across America Photos |
| MICHAEL JUND SPORTS MEDIA SCHOLARSHIP AWARD | |
| The Kings and the local sports community lost a special friend on May 31, 1998 when Kings media relations assistant, Michael Jund passed away unexpectedly due to a rare heart condition.
