NHL Entry Draft 2010 Draft Picks | Kings 2010 Draft Picks
The Los Angeles Kings selected defenseman Derek Forbort in the first round (15th overall) of Friday's NHL Entry Draft, hosted by the Kings, before 11,052 at STAPLES Center.
Center Tyler Toffoli was the first of four players selected by the Los Angeles Kings (second-round, 47th overall) in Saturday’s second and final day of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, hosted by the Kings at STAPLES Center.
The Kings then selected center Jordan Weal in the third round (70th) overall, giving Los Angeles three of the top 30 players in the final rankings of NHL Central Scouting. Toffoli was ranked 16th, Weal was ranked 30th and Derek Forbort (selected last night as the 15th overall selection) was ranked ninth.
“You have to put it all together and we’re ecstatic,” said Kings Co-Director of Amateur Scouting Michael Futa from the draft floor at STAPLES Center. “Yesterday Dean Lombardi talked about how much work goes in with getting people and the defenseman we took yesterday [Derek Forbort] was far ahead of where we picked him.”
