PETE WEBERKINGS TELEVISION/RADIO COLOR COMMENTATOR 1978-81
Pete Weber served as an analyst on the Kings radio and television broadcasts alongside Bob Miller for three seasons from 1978-81.
A native of Galesburg, Ill., Weber began his sports reporting career while still in high school as staff writer for the Galeburg Register-Mail. He then moved to South Bend, Ind., where he received his undergraduate degree in German (after spending his sophomore year in Austria at the University of Innsbruck) in 1972, and his M.A. in Communication Arts in 1975.
After spending a year as sports director of WGIL radio in his hometown, Weber called the play-by-play of Notre Dame hockey and handled weekend sports for WNDU Radio and TV for two seasons before moving to Buffalo, N.Y. There he served WEBR Newsradio as sports reporter and later sports director. At WEBR, he handled play-by-play of college football, basketball and hockey, hosted a sports talk show, delivered daily sports commentaries and began his close association with the NHL while covering the Sabres in addition to the Bills and Braves. One of the documentaries he produced, a history of baseball in Buffalo, won him honors from the Associated Press in New York state.
Following his work with the Kings, Weber spent two seasons (1995-97) as the radio play-by-play announcer for the Buffalo Sabres, and served as host of "Hockey Night with the Buffalo Sabres" from 1990-93. In addition to his NHL experience, Weber has served as a play-by-play voice in baseball (Buffalo Bisons, 1983-95), basketball (Seattle SuperSonics, 1981-82) and football (University of Buffalo, 1992). He called the hockey action for the University of Notre Dame (1974-76) and the University at Buffalo (1976-78) and was part of the Buffalo Bills' broadcast team during their four Super Bowl seasons (1990-93).
In 1998, Weber, the "Voice of the Predators,” joined the expansion Nashville Predators broadcast team and has been the only play-by-play announcer in the team's history.
