On April 28, 1999, the Kings, Lakers and Sparks officially “broke ground” on the new $24 million Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. On March 5, 2000, the facility was officially opened.

The Drezner Group of Los Angeles designed the worldclass facility, which is located at 555 North Nash Street, just off the 105 Freeway in El Segundo.

The facility is the official training center for the Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Sparks. The six-acre site, which is part of the Grand Avenue Corporate Center, includes: two public ice rinks (NHL regulation and Olympic-size), an outdoor covered in-line skating rink, a basketball court, a pro shop and a restaurant, as well as complete training facilities, including locker rooms and office space, for the Kings, Lakers and Sparks.

“This facility is a tremendous asset to the hockey club and the entire organization,” said Daryl Evans who, in addition to his duties on Kings radio broadcasts, serves as an executive with the Toyota Sports Center.

“To have a facility of this magnitude and everything that it provides the organization is huge. In the long run, the players will be light years ahead of where they would be otherwise.”

The complex, which is owned and operated by a subsidiary of AEG and the FOX Entertainment Group, is open to the public for ice and roller hockey leagues.

Originally known as the HealthSouth Training Center, Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. in July of 2005 entered into a multi-year agreement with AEG to name the organization’s owned and operated El Segundo-based athletic training center.

“We are pleased to further expand AEG’s relationship with Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. to include the naming rights of one of the nation’s premier training centers for NHL and NBA teams,” said Tracy Hartman, Vice President, Corporate Sales, AEG.
