On Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, Kings fans enjoyed a day at Universal Studios Hollywood and then walked the red carpet with their favorite Universal Studios characters at Tip A King 2008, presented by D.I.S.C Spine and Sports Center in Marina Del Rey. Photo Gallery.

Three lucky fans competed with Peter Harrold, Jeff Guiliano and Jack Johnson in  a special version of Fear Factor Live.

Held for the first time at the famous Universal Studios Hollywood, all players, coaches, broadcasters and alumni - including Marty McSorley 700K and Marcel Dionne - were on hand to receive a $1 “tip” for an autograph and/or a $2 “tip” for a photograph from their loyal fans. All proceeds benefit the Kings Care Foundation, the LA Kings award winning non-profit organization that provides educational and recreational opportunities for children throughout Greater Los Angeles.

In its 17-year history, this was the most successful Tip-A-King ever, raising nearly $300,000 for the Kings Care Foundation. Over the past 16 years, Tip A King has allowed the Foundation to distribute more than $2 million for Los Angeles children’s charities.

The VIP Reception sponsored by Toyota was held at the park’s premiere event venue, The Globe Theatre. Those in attendance enjoyed Wolfgang Puck’s famous barbeque menu and bar service and had the opportunity to spend time obtaining player autographs and photographs prior to the General Admission portion of the event.

Kicking off Tip A King 2008 General Admission, was a special version of Fear Factor Live. No one wanted to miss three lucky fans competing against Jack Johnson, Jeff Guiliano and Peter Harrold as they performed gravity-defying stunts in front of the whole audience.

Following the show, Derek Armstrong and Kings TV Analyst Bob Miller hosted the Live Auction featuring one-of-a-kind Kings Experiences and the LA Kings Ice Bike," graciously donated by Dr. Robert Bray 700K of D.I.S.C. Spine and Sports center.

The Kings Ice Bike raised $35,000.

To see how the bike was made, check out this video on youtube.com. Various LA Kings graphics 700K are displayed throughout the paint including hockey pucks streaking across the ice and the entire team autographed the fuel tank and side panels. Photo Gallery.

Throughout the event, fans could bid on items featured at the exciting silent auction. The fan-favorite Mystery Envelopes and Golden Pucks were also available for purchase. This year, lucky fans took home game-used equipment, travel vouchers, restaurant gift certificates and more

This event could not have been possible without the help and support of our sponsors D.I.S.C.
