Lewis: Feeling great after winning 2nd Cup
Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Lewis blogged for NHL.com throughout the Stanley Cup Final, offering his insight on what was happening inside the walls of his team's locker room and within the confines of the rink.
LOS ANGELES -- This is such a great feeling right now. It is just awesome.
This game was another crazy battle out there. The Rangers played really good. They kept it tight on us. We had our chances and we finally got one to go there in double overtime.
Henrik Lundqvist was great for them, and he's such a great goalie, but our guy, Jonathan Quick, is great too. He was unbelievable for us tonight.
At one point in the game, I got clipped by a stick and starting bleeding a little bit. It was a bouncing puck, and I don't know if the Rangers guy was shooting or not. I couldn't really see it. But it was a follow-through, and the stick just came up and got me in the eye.
The trainers did a great job of getting me cleaned up and ready to get back out there. It was a quick thing, just get the blood to stop so I go back out. I don't think I missed a shift, and then they stitched me up during the overtime intermission.
We had a lot of chances to win it. I had a couple good chances. It doesn't matter who scores, though, in this type of game.
This whole playoffs was a battle. We really had to battle to win the Cup this time. Everyone played for each other, and we are here again at the end.
It's a hard feeling to describe right now. It is really unreal, especially to do it again with this group of guys. It is pretty amazing.
I don't know what happens next. We are definitely going to celebrate. We'll celebrate with the team and then with our families.
I feel like we're ready to do it again. I can't wait for next season.
