GAME 1 RECAP ATTACK:
ARE THE KINGS IN THE NEXT ROUND?:
With veteran leaders Willie Mitchell and now Robyn Regehr out of the starting lineup... it's up to the young guns of the LA Kings to propel this team forward in the playoffs.
Oh, and Jeff Schultz.
The Jeff Schultz Experience is my favorite wedding band.
Here is a little bit of background on Jeff Schultz. And Jewels from the Crown has a really in-depth look at the man who will probably be skating a regular shift at defense for the LA Kings the rest of this series. With Mitchell and Regehr out, the LA Kings will really be missing their shot-blocking abilities... but at least Schultz knows a thing or two about that.
LA TOURISM BOARD:
The LA Kings battled hard Saturday night in Anaheim to defeat the Ducks 3-2 in overtime. But over the course of the night, LA Kings fans learned that the battle with their toughest opponent had barely begun.
Sup, Kings fans.
Joe Micheletti is scratched from the call for Game 1 of Kings-Ducks on NBCSN. He will be replaced by... Brian Hayward.— Steve Lepore (@stevelepore) May 2, 2014
For some reason that NBC Sports won't explain, 20-year color analyst for the Anaheim Ducks, Brian Hayward, was between the glass on the NBCSN broadcast of Game 1 for the Kings and Ducks. And boy, were fans excited!!!
@DennisTFP I cannot believe Kings fans have to listen to Hayward for this entire series. Should be illegal.— Eric Andrulaitis (@jah1441) May 4, 2014
Having to listen to Ducks announcer Brian Hayward is like putting a fingernail clipping under my eyelid. Thanks for nothing @NBCSN— Mickey Chambers (@itsalagi) May 4, 2014
Well, at least the rest of the country will know how god awful Brain Hayward is...— Staples Sec 210 (@Sec210LA) May 2, 2014
LOL, some Kings fans are petitioning for NBCSN to take Brian Hayward off the air? Idiots...— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 5, 2014
Haha, Kings fans are blocking me because I said that their petition to get NBCSN to remove Brian Hayward was stupid.— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 5, 2014
The TRH "Worst Opposition to Follow", everyone!
Now, I was at the game on Saturday... so I was unable to listen to the NBCSN broadcast. But I'm sure that Brian Hayward acted totally professional and didn't show any bias toward the Anaheim DucWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!?
NBCSN's Brian Hayward, on a night where Anze Kopitar had 3 assists. https://t.co/jh0RfWprnd— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) May 4, 2014
Anze Kopitar. Nearly invisible in Game 1.
This video is from March 16, 2012. 3 months before the LA Kings would win the Stanley Cup.
The Anaheim Ducks didn't make the playoffs that year.
You really should watch the whole clip, it's amazing. And it's the reason why Jim Fox wears his Stanley Cup ring on broadcasts only when the Kings play the Ducks. Well, at least we know that for the rest of the series, Brian Hayward will provide us with unbiased and informative commentary. Like the time he thought that Chicago Blackhawks defenseman, Brent Seabrook, was "selling it."
As created by Jesse Cohen from All The Kings Men Podcast... The Moulson Index™ highlights an opposing player from tonights game who has the opportunity to score against his former employer, the LA Kings.
Tonight's Moulson Index Spotlight is:
TIM JACKMAN, RIGHT WING
In 21 games versus the LA Kings, Tim Jackman has 2 GOALS and 30 PIMs.
