What Did They Say?
What they said postgame, plus some news and notes from San Jose - Game 1 at Anaheim on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Head Coach Todd McLellan (on Sharks problems): "When I look at it, I think they fixed their problems, we didn't. Our problems got progressively worse as we went along. We were awful off the rush. They scored, I don't know how many goals off the rush, and awful around our net. Every day we came to the rink we tried to stress that - giving up out-numbered rushes. We were never able to fix it. It's frustrating because during the year we're pretty good in those areas."

Todd McLellan: "I disagree. One, we respect that team enough to know. We played them enough, they've won the Cup. They play hard and competitively. The problem that we ran into was getting them to understand that the 7-2 and the 6-3 games weren't going to keep coming. They weren't going to keep coming. We captured that a little bit in game six, a 1-1 game and then at the end it got away on us. Tonight we weren't that bad until we gave up an out-numbered rush and it's in our net. Game over."

Joe Thornton: "[I'm] So disappointed right now. I felt like we had some good chances it just didn't go in. It's just a tough pill to swallow right now."

Joe Thornton: " I think their defense just swallowed us right up... They just played real tight defensively and their goaltender got hot like he usually does this time of year.

We had the lead one-nothing. That's the way you want to start. We just couldn't grab the second one, he (Quick) played that good tonight."

Patrick Marleau (on two goals in last three games): "Well obviously they tightened things up defensively. We had our opportunities, we just weren't putting them in. Obviously Quick played really well, too."

Brad Stuart (on GWG): "It got turned over in the neutral zone I think and they came back at us and had the late guy coming in. He came in and made a nice move and we weren't able to pick him up."

Los Angeles Kings Postgame Quotes:

Head Coach Darryl Sutter (on Drew Doughty): "He came into this series with some time off. He'd been banged up and he got better as the series went along."

Darryl Sutter (on critical moment in 2nd): "The penalty kill in the 2nd was critical. Jonathan (Quick) made one big save and that gives us momentum too."

Darryl Sutter (on Sharks): "We tried to win a series against a team that had home ice, and was ahead of us all year in the standings. And we finally caught them."

Dustin Brown (on Kings psyche): "I think at the end of the day, we've been through a lot together and that lends itself to the trust level, the belief in ourselves--our own guys. Obviously, we were down three-nothing which is not where we want to be. But we never thought we were done."

Dustin Brown (on first two games): "I think what happened in the first two games is we were very uncharacteristic in the way we played. A lot of odd man rushes. We probably gave us more odd man rushes in the first two games than we have in the last month."

Justin Williams (on historial feat): "History is not for us. We look at it as we won four games in a row and we advance. We're pretty excited about that."

Justin Williams (on coming back from 3-0 series deficit): "It looked pretty bleak being down three-nothing. No margin for error. Time to step up and fortunately, we were able to get our game going in time."
