KINGS POINTS LEADER vs INJURED JOHN TAVARES UPDATE:

LooKING Back:

Last night in Philadelphia... two people came together to put on a showcase of their amazing skills in front of the fans in Philadelphia for the first time.

Carter Richards intro - The Royal Half

Of course I mean the 2 producers from Fox Sports West that opened the broadcast with this.

Oh and the LA Kings also beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in an amazing game.

WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:

Hey, did you guys hear that the LA Kings took a train from Philadelphia to Washington DC last night?

To be fair... Carter Rubin has a vested interest in public transportation.

I'm adding "Bloggin'." to the end of every single email or text I send from here on out.

LA TOURISM BOARD:

Alex Ovechkin is on the verge of having a NHL record-breaking season. And it may not be the kind of NHL record-breaking season you are thinking about.

+:-Top 5

That's right, Alex Ovechkin is only 6 goals and 3 minuses away from setting the record for the most goals scored in a NHL season with the lowest Plus/Minus. The current record holder is Mike Bullard in 1983-84 with 51 goals scored and a -33 for a Pittsburgh Penguins team that went 16-58-6 and was the worst team in the NHL. Oh and that just happened to be the season before a certain franchise-changing player was available in the draft.

Pittsburgh Penguin v Toronto Maple Leafs

51 goal scorer, Mike Bullard.

I know that people don't think +/- is a meaningful stat anymore... but I mean come on... seriously... have you ever seen a potential Rocket Richard Trophy winner with as bad a +/- as the one Alex Ovechkin has this season?

Nash_R_0724_5_slide

Oh, I guess you have.

That's right, since the introduction of the Rocket Richard Trophy in 2007-08, which recognizes the leading goal scorer in the NHL, only one player's +/- has been below -10... Rick Nash in 2003-04 at -35.

Columbus Blue Jackets v Vancouver Canucks

And that's another minus, Nash.

What Alex Ovechkin is on the verge of doing is truly historic. So I hope you'll join me as he races to the end of the season in an effort to be the best/worst goal scorer of all-time!!!

As created by Jesse Cohen from All The Kings Men Podcast... The Moulson Index™ highlights an opposing player from tonights game who has the opportunity to score against his former employer, the LA Kings. Tonight's Moulson Index Spotlight is:

DUSTIN PENNER, LEFT WING

In 29 games versus the LA Kings, Dustin Penner has 10 GOALS & 9 ASSISTS
