6 Things To Watch For Tonight On Fox Sports West
CAPITALS (33-27-10) at KINGS (38-25-6)
7:30PM PT, TV: FOX SPORTS WEST; RADIO: AM 1150
FIRST POLL: This is the first of two meetings with the Washington Capitals this season. These two clubs last met on January 9, 2012 at STAPLES Center, the Kings won 5-2. The Kings have won their past five contests against Washington, dating back to November 20, 2008. They'll see the Capitals again five days from now when they visit D.C.’s Verizon Center Tuesday evening.
CAPITOLIZE: The Kings have lost three consecutive games, albeit after winning eight straight – a feat which really only helped them even out after a dry spell (1-8-1) through January and early February. The Kings’ playoff hopes are extremely far from being threatened, but they aren’t completely safe either. Phoenix (5 PTS) and Dallas (7 PTS) are trailing the Kings close for the Pacific Division’s third and final guaranteed playoff spot.
SUPPLY AND DEMAND: With 12 games left on Washington’s schedule, the Capitals find themselves on the bubble for playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference. They've won three straight games, but are entrenched, and a bit behind in a tight race involving the Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, and Philadelphia Flyers for three playoff spots.
The Capitals won Wednesday night in Anaheim, as Alexander Ovechkin buried his league-leading 46th goal of the season for the game-winner at Honda Center.

BLACK HOUSE: The Capitals have struggled outside the District of Columbia this season, carrying a 13-16-5 record when playing away from Washington’s Verizon Center. Prior to the Capitals’ win in Anaheim Wednesday night, Washington had dropped its previous three road games, getting shut out twice.
CAPS AT STAPLES: The Washington Capitals haven’t won a game at STAPLES Center since December 14, 2005. Since then, they’ve lost three straight when visiting Downtown Los Angeles.
Washington’s last visit came on January 9, 2012, where the Kings slaughtered the Capitals, winning 5-2, scoring five goals for the first time ever under the helm of Darryl Sutter.
