KINGS POINTS LEADER vs INJURED JOHN TAVARES UPDATE:

LooKING Back:

Last night in Edmonton, there was a huge incident involving the LA Kings and the Edmonton Oilers that the entire hockey world is talking about today.

Were you thinking of something else?

So besides PumperNicholl and I taking in the Oilers-Kings game last night as we explored the really fun city of Edmonton... I guess this happened:

And then more people used the phrase "Sucker Punch" than actually saw the movie "Sucker Punch."

Thankfully, there was one journalist that couldn't find "Sucker Punch" in the AP Style Guide. From LA Kings Insider....
Jordan Nolan received a one-game suspension from the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety for his gloved punch of Edmonton’s Jesse Joensuu that occurred in a scrum with four seconds remaining in the second period of Sunday’s 4-2 Los Angeles win.
I guess the phrase "Sucker Punch" goes along with "The Code" and "Playing the Game the Right Way" as things that hockey writers like to use to let you know that they have the moral high ground. But nothing beats what Benjamin Pope had to say about the LA Kings play last night...

This could be the greatest Tweet ever.

It's the only version that's on YouTube.

WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:

Regardless of whether or not Jesse Joensuu's gloved punch to Jordan Nolan's groin was the cause of Nolan's gloved punch to Joensuu's face...

... surprisingly, the play above is only the 2nd most popular gloved punch to the groin in LA Kings history...

LA TOURISM BOARD:

I'm still recovering from my weekend in Edmonton (a full recap is coming soon!) so I'll let long-time LA Kings Play by Play Announcer, Bob Miller, tell you all you need to know about Calgary.

And SpikeC20 remembers a passage from Bob Miller's book about this very video.
