Legends Night Series Continues
This Thursday (March 13) is LA Kings Legends Night presented by McDonald\u2019s with Jim Fox being honored. A special pregame ceremony will precede that night\u2019s Kings-Maple Leafs game at STAPLES Center.

This Thursday (March 13) is LA Kings Legends Night presented by McDonald’s with Jim Fox being honored. A special pregame ceremony will precede that night’s Kings-Maple Leafs game at STAPLES Center.

Fox is the third former Kings player to be honored as a Legend this season. Joining him in the Legends Series Class of 2013-14 are Jay Wells (honored on October 27 vs. Edmonton) and Larry Murphy (December 7 vs. NY Islanders).

As part of the festivities on March 13, Kings fans will receive a Jim Fox Bobble Head (co-sponsored by FOX Sports West). The Kings will also wear their Vintage Jerseys as part of this special evening. The only time the Kings will wear these sweaters during the 2013-14 season will be on the three scheduled Legends Nights.

Fox is ninth on the Kings all-time scoring list, ninth in assists and 11th in goals with 479 points (186-293=479) in 578 games. A winger, he spent his entire 10-year career as a member of the Kings after being selected in the first round (10th overall) of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft.

A three time 30-goal scorer, Fox enjoyed his most productive season in 1984-85 when he recorded 83 points (30-53=83), and in 22 career playoff games with the Kings, Fox had 12 points (4-8=12). Over his playing career with the Kings, Fox also holds the distinction of playing the third most games – starting, ending and only with the Kings (Dave Taylor holds the mark followed by Dustin Brown)).

Since retiring as a player, Fox, of course, has enjoyed a successful broadcasting career with the Kings. He is currently in his 24th season as the Kings Television Color Commentator, joining Bob Miller in the booth for club broadcasts on FOX Sports West.

“We are excited to continue our Legends Series and we believe that our fans enjoy honoring the individuals who helped establish our franchise,” said Kings President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille. “Jim, Larry and Jay are each very deserving.”

The eight other (former) Kings honored with a Legends Night prior to this season: 2012-13: Ian Laperriere and Kelly Hrudey; 2011-12: Daryl Evans, Bernie Nicholls and Charlie Simmer; and 2010-11: Rogie Vachon, Bob Berry and Bob Pulford.

When the Kings honored Wells, fans received a Bobble Fist (co-sponsored by FOX Sports West). When Murphy was honored fans received a Bobble Head (also co-sponsored by FOX Sports West).
