OILERS + FLAMES VS THE KINGS POINTS UPDATE:
LooKING Back:Last Saturday night, the LA Kings organization staged an amazing event that truly honored the franchise's history.
Oh, I'm sorry were you expecting something else???

When people say Linden Vey should be scoring in a Kings jersey,
I'm not sure this is what they meant.
WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:What can we add to the amazing event that was the Coors Light Stadium Series™ at Dodger Stadium that hasn't already been said?
I can’t wait to combine my two most popular childhood memories this Saturday. The LA Kings and the LA Dodgers losing.— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) January 24, 2014
Sure, the outcome wasn't what any of us were hoping for... but the spectacle was one that I will remember my entire life. As someone who grew up going to baseball games at Dodger Stadium... seeing fans in Kings and Ducks jerseys make the steep hike up to the stadium so that they can avoid paying for parking was an image I won't forget for a long time. Everywhere you looked in the stadium there were Kings and Ducks fans. Honestly, you don't go to one of these type of events to watch a hockey game... you go to be a part of history. So kudos to the NHL and the LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks for putting together an amazing event (even if they ran out of beer). The best part of this Stadium Series™ game is that it gave us LA hockey fans a chance to see a photograph that will last till the end of time.
Awesome but no.
LA TOURISM BOARD:The LA Kings have beaten the San Jose Sharks twice this season and lost to them once in overtime. But recently, the LA Kings are struggling with 5 losses in a row while the Sharks have won 6 straight. But the most telling stat between these two rivals is their records since Tomas Hertl skated into Dustin Brown and subsequently ended his season.
The San Jose Sharks winning 6 straight isn't the biggest news in San Jose these days, no... it's the contract extensions that Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau have recently signed.
I wish there was some way to visually represent what most of the NHL thinks of these signings.
Smart move by the Sharks to lock up their depth guys for a few more years.— Robert P. (@RobertJFTC) January 24, 2014
In order to understand the value of the Thornton and Marleau re-signings, you have to look at the advanced stats. For instance, Captain Joe Thornton's cap hit will be 6.75 million until the end of the 2016-17 NHL Season. So how does that compare to the 5.875 million dollar cap hit LA Kings Captain, Dustin Brown, will have until the end of the 2021-22 season?
But what about big goal scorer Patrick Marleau and his cap hit for the Sharks? Well, at 6.66 million until the end of the 2016-17 season, let's see how he compares to LA Kings leading goal scorer Jeff Carter and his 5.272 million dollar cap hit until 2021-22.
Well, one thing is for sure. Not matter what 34 year-old forwards the San Jose Sharks sign to a 6 million dollar, 3 year contract...
