KINGS (29-14-6) at BRUINS (30-15-3)

12:00PM PT, TV: FOX SPORTS WEST; RADIO: AM 1150

BOSTON BREWIN’: Today marks the second and final meeting with the Boston Bruins this season. The Kings gutted out an impressive win against Boston 12 days ago at STAPLES Center in a 4-2 win that saw Justin Williams and Alec Martinez score within 61 seconds of each other, chasing Tuukka Rask from Boston’s net. Can the Kings sweep the season series with a win today?

BIG STAGE: The Kings are entering one of the league’s most hostile environments at the TD Garden in Downtown Boston, Massachusetts, where the Bruins hold a stifling 18-5-2 record against opponents so far this season. The Kings are 1-5-1 in their previous seven contests on the road, dating back to December 15. How about grabbing two points today in Boston?

ELITE MATCHUP: Today’s date in Boston features the NHL’s top two defensive clubs. The Kings enter today with league’s best defense holding a stalwart 1.96 GAA in 48 games played, the Bruins with the league’s second-best defense with 2.17 GAA in 47 games. Can the Kings pounce on Boston’s defense just like they did 12 days ago in their 4-2 win at STAPLES Center?

THE LAST TIME WE WERE THERE: It was the start of life after Terry Murray. The Kings fell 3-0 to the Bruins at TD Garden in their last visit to Boston on December 13, 2011, which was also John Stevens’ first of four games as interim head coach of the Kings after Terry Murray was fired a day earlier on January 12, 2011. The Kings hired current head coach Darryl Sutter eight days later.

Stevens sat at the helm of the Kings’ bench for four games in December 2012. He’s been the Kings’ assistant coach since his hiring in June 2010.

Can Darryl Sutter record his first win in Boston today as the Kings’ head coach?

BEAR DOWN: Dating back to March 19, 2009, the Kings are 6-3-0 against the Boston Bruins. The Kings’ last win in Boston, Massachusetts, coming on November 20, 2010, saw them decide the contest in a shootout in a 4-3 win. Only one current King tallied a goal that night. Jarret Stoll put the Kings up 3-0 early in the contest with 17:10 remaining in the second period on a tip-tap passing clinic with Justin Wiliams.

TIC-TAC-TOE

BALANCED ATTACK: Ten different players recorded at least one point in the Kings’ 4-2 win against the Bruins on January 7. In the Kings’ four games played since their win over Boston, they’ve scored a combined eight goals, reeling off a 2-1-1 record in that span. Can they spread out the scoring today?
