OILERS + FLAMES VS THE KINGS POINTS UPDATE:

LooKING Back:

The LA Kings looked dominant in their 4-2 victory over the 2nd best team in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins. But after the game, everyone was talking about the harsh statements from LA Kings Head Coach, Darryl Sutter.
On whether he’ll wear the boots presented to him in the pre-game ceremony behind the bench: Aw, hell. I thought I was going to get a tractor.

Never change, Head Coach Darryl Sutter... never, ever change.

WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:

Apparently, in the NHL, swinging your stick at another players' neck is no longer a penalty.

"The Bruins find themselves on the wrong side of a call again." - Andy Brickley 1/9/14

LA TOURISM BOARD:

The Detroit Red Wings come into town 4-5-1 in their last 10 games. They have battled injuries this entire season but none of those injuries have been as bad as the ones hockey fans suffered while watching the Detroit Red Wings on HBO's 24/7: Road to the Winter Classic this past month.

FYI, this was the most exciting scene involving the Red Wings.

The Detroit Red Wings appearance in HBO's 24/7: Road to the Winter Classic was universally panned by critics across the hockey blogosphere. It was called boring and bland... but they just might be referring to the type of hockey the Red Wings have played this season. Since the Red Wings HBO debut was such a bomb, I decided to find 5 other HBO shows that were more exciting to watch than the Red Wings on 24/7. LUCK

A disaster from the start, HBO's Luck was eventually cancelled before it's Season Finale even aired. Besides poor ratings, the real reason Luck was cancelled was because several horses died during the filming of the series. But seriously, if I wanted to watch a bunch of old horses on their deathbed...

... I'd just watch the 2013-14 Detroit Red Wings.

JOHN FROM CINCINNATI

John from Cincinnati was the much-heralded, heir-apparent to the HBO juggernaut that was The Sopranos. And it never quite lived up to its predecessor.

Jimmy Howard is the much-heralded, heir-apparent to the Red Wings goaltending throne. And he hasn't quite lived up to his predecessor.

LUCKY LOUIE

HBO knew they had a lot of talent in Louis C.K. when they decided to give him his first sitcom... but after a disappointing season, HBO cancelled the show and Louis C.K. moved on to bigger and much better things. To replace Lucky Louie, HBO brought in a new show...

...that was even more of a bomb than Lucky Louie.

Detroit knew they had a lot of talent in Valtteri Filppula... but after a disappointing season, Ken Holland decided to not give Filppula a 5 year, 25 million dollar contract and Filppula moved on to bigger and much better things. To replace Valtteri Filppula, the Red Wings brought in a new center...

...and signed him to a 5 year, 24.5 million dollar contract. And he's a total bomb.

SEX AND THE CITY

If I wanted to watch a bunch of clueless hotties talk non-stop about the man of their dreams...

...then I just would have watched the Red Wings on 24/7.

Ok, so I think I found the only thing on HBO that is more painful to watch than the Detroit Red Wings on 24/7...

...Kayne West's un-aired HBO pilot!

Just kidding... the Red Wings are MUCH more painful to watch.

As created by Jesse Cohen from All The Kings Men Podcast... The Moulson Index™ highlights an opposing player from tonights game who has the opportunity to score against his former employer, the LA Kings.
