LA Kings vs Sharks: Recap
With tonight\u2019s win, the Kings are now 12-0-1 against the Sharks in their last 13 meetings at STAPLES Center.

LOS ANGELES, CA – The magic continues for the Kings against the San Jose Sharks in Los Angeles.

With tonight’s win, the Kings are now 12-0-1 against the Sharks in their last 13 meetings at STAPLES Center.

Tonight featured another well-balanced performance from the Kings, who were rock-solid in the defensive zone and heavily active in the offensive zone. Martin Jones was spectacular once again.

The Kings put a fair amount of pressure on San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi from the get-go, directing 13 shots his way in the first period – but with no goals to show for their efforts.

The second period would see the Kings open the scoring. Alec Martinez one-timed a pass from Tyler Toffoli from the point for his third goal of the season, as his shot knuckle-balled past Antti Niemi with 14:34 to play in the second period to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.

Slava Voynov would set up the Kings second tally of the night, as he delivered a tremendous stretch-pass to Tyler Toffoli, who utilized the momentum he had from skating into Voynov’s pass to rifle a wrist-shot past Niemi to give the Kings a 2-0 lead with 8:45 to play in the middle frame.

The Kings would enter the third period with a 2-0 lead. Coming into tonight, they were undefeated (12-0-0) when heading into the final period with the lead.

They would continue that perfection tonight, stretching that stat to a 13-0-0 mark.

Jeff Carter added to the Kings lead, making the score 3-0 just :36 seconds into the third period with his 10th goal of the year, slamming home a pass from Dwight King. King showed outstanding patience with the puck to find an opening to feed a wide-open and waiting Jeff Carter on the back-door.

After assisting on the Kings’ third goal, Dwight King would bury the Kings’ fourth goal of the night. King snapped home his 10th goal of the season, giving the Kings a 4-0 lead with 13:44 remaining in the third period.

Martin Jones, with another flawless performance, lost his bid for his fourth shutout of the season with 2:10 remaining, as Patrick Marleu beat Jones to the glove-side from atop the slot.

Jones stopped 31 of San Jose’s 32 shots, and now has a 7-0-0 record with a .971 SV% and a 0.85 GAA.

San Jose, who has the NHL’s third-best offense coming into tonight’s contest, couldn’t solve the red-hot Martin Jones.

The Kings continue to find offense from all assets, as four different players scored tonight, and seven different players recorded a point.

Goaltender Martin Jones recorded his first-career NHL assist on Tyler Toffoli’s goal.

Drew Doughty played in his 400th career NHL game tonight, and Justin Williams played in his 300th game in a Kings uniform.

The Kings are now 8-0-1 in their last nine games, and have outscored opponents 30-11 in that span.

With a 24-8-4 record, which is good for 52 points, the Kings now sit at third-place in the Western Conference.

The Kings have won the first two games of their four-game home stand, and will look to continue their winning ways on home-ice when the Colorado Avalanche come to town Saturday afternoon for a matinee 1:00PM puck-drop at STAPLES Center.
