PHILADELPHIA FLYERS VS JEFF CARTER POINTS UPDATE:
LooKING Back:A few days ago, the LA Kings defeated the Anaheim Ducks in one of the most exciting games I've seen in a long time. Oh wait... I mean it was one of the most exciting games that I hadn't seen in a long time.
I mean seriously... have you ever seen Wayne Gretzky in an uglier jersey?
Oh... I guess you have.
That's right... I'm not talking about Martin Jones' incredibly impressive play in his NHL debut... I'm talking about the #JerseyClassic game between the LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks from January 27th, 1996 that Fox Sports West aired last Wednesday night.
I mean have you ever seen anything more 1990s than this?!?
Oh I guess you have.
It was a real blast to watch this old LA Kings game and think about how far the franchise has come in 17 years.
I mean... have you ever seen a LA Kings coach make this funny of a face behind the bench?!?
This is the new visual equivalent of saying "LOG OFF!"
In case you missed the #JerseyClassic, Fox Sports West is re-broadcasting the game on Christmas Eve along with a bunch more exciting Kings-Ducks classic games. It's kinda the perfect way to spend the night around the Christmas Tree.
An actual image of my Christmas tree.
WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:Well, we learned that Darryl Sutter has a beautiful mind.
Here is some exclusive video that you won't find on KingsVision from Darryl Sutter's recent press scrum:
And I always knew that Darryl Sutter would end up on the front page of Deadspin...
Darryl Sutter just broke mathematics: http://t.co/k97QAyPOWj— Deadspin (@Deadspin) December 6, 2013
I just thought it would be for something else besides his math skills.
i'd hate to be a cashier ringing up Darryl Sutter.— Robert P. (@RobertJFTC) December 6, 2013
"ok that'll be $22.59" "22.59? I look at it as 20. I've got 10. double that you've got 20, in my other pants i've 34 subtract 22 you've got— Robert P. (@RobertJFTC) December 6, 2013
I think i'm starting to understand why Tyler Toffoli only played 8 minutes last game...Sutter probaly looks at it as 10, divide by 5 it's 2— Robert P. (@RobertJFTC) December 6, 2013
Toffoli's got 6 goals right? I look at it as 5. 15 games which is basically 20 divide 5 by 20 you've got about 0 goals at the end of it— Robert P. (@RobertJFTC) December 6, 2013
@PumperNicholl is it bad if I watch so many Sutter interviews that it actually made sense to me??— Anne Lucas (@anniekluc) December 7, 2013
LA TOURISM BOARD:When the LA Kings last played the New York Islanders, the Islanders were 7-9-3, a mere 5 points away from the top of the MehTropolitan Division. Since that game, the Islanders have gone 1-6-2. The Kings have gone 6-1-3. The Islanders are in complete disarray... having lost 8 straight games and fans and media everywhere are freaking out. This is the exact type of game for the LA Kings that our friends at THXBUD have labeled "BAD TEAM BOOSTER CLUB." So don't think about the fact that the LA Kings tends to struggle against inferior NHL teams... instead... BOBBLEHEADS, BITCHES!!!
Tonight is the 2nd LA Kings Legends Night of the season, as the Kings honor former defenseman, Larry Murphy. Our own Jesse Cohen, from All The Kings Men Podcast, has done an exhaustive analysis of the Larry Murphy era for the LA Kings, so you should read that before the game. And The Royal Half's resident LA Kings Video Historian, Spike Coffman, has hand-selected some videos to honor Larry Murphy's time as a LA King.
Holy crap... what a play by Jim Fox there.
As created by Jesse Cohen from All The Kings Men Podcast... The Moulson Index™ highlights an opposing player from tonights game who has the opportunity to score against his former employer, the LA Kings.
Tonight's Moulson Index Spotlight is:
THOMAS HICKEY, DEFENSEMAN
In 1 games versus the LA Kings, Thomas Hickey has 0 POINTS.
