OILERS + FLAMES VS THE KINGS POINTS UPDATE:
LooKING Back:After watching the LA Kings beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 Monday night... I couldn't believe that the Kings had already played 25 games so far this season. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and that means the holidays are right around the corner. And it seems that each year, earlier and earlier the holidays creep up and force this country to deal with an important, on-going problem...
...holiday commercials taking things we love and ruining them.
For those that don't know, a "GIF" is an image file for your computer that is compressed to reduce transfer time and enables the user to experience an animated effect. Now, you see... GIFs have been a big part of the
bromance relationship between The Royal Half and LAKings.com over the past year or so, and in fact, GIFs are immensely popular within the world of sports and pop culture. So when an American company decides to use GIFs for its holiday themed ad campaign... I'm sure the response will be overwhelmingly positive online, right? RIGHT?!?
Kmart pronounces GIF with a hard G, and I just don't know anymore. I think our corporations shouldn't be taking sides in political battles.— Todd VanDerWerff (@tvoti) November 26, 2013
Hey @Kmart, re: your latest commercials: You're pronouncing "gif" wrong, and also gifs don't make sound. Pay attention to the Internet.— Christine Barrett (@ckbarrett) November 27, 2013
THEY PRONOUNCE GIF WRONG IN THAT STUPID KMART CHRISTMAS COMMERCIAL I HATE EVERYTHING— Lauren. ♥ (@idiotblainers) November 22, 2013
That awkward Kmart commercial where they pronounce gif wrong even though the internet as a whole already decided how to say it.— Brad Ringel (@cafhacker) November 21, 2013
they're saying gif wrong on that stupid @kmart ad. i wish companies would stop trying to make fetch happen.— this loser (@isthew0rst) November 21, 2013
So why am I bringing this up? Why should we even care if something like a GIF is beginning its ascent into mass culture? Well, simply because during the last game against the Canucks... there were some of the most amazing LA Kings-related GIFs of all-time!
But out of all the GIFs from Monday night... probably this was the most important one...
And even though we all seem to be obsessed with the thousands of frames that comprise a GIF...
...sometimes one frame is worth a thousand.
LA TOURISM BOARD:The San Jose Sharks have won 5 of their last 6 games as this is the LA Kings first trip to the SAP CenOMG THAT WASN'T A JOKE??? IT'S REALLY CALLED THE "SAP" CENTER AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...
AHHAHAHAHHAHH SAP CENTER AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) June 5, 2013
Oh man, has there ever been a better named arena for their fans than the SAP Center?!?— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) June 5, 2013
Wow, the injury to Jeff Carter’s chin and teeth looks pretty seveI’M SORRY I CAN’T THE SAP CENTER AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) June 5, 2013
Now that the GIF is dead... Indiana Matt has created the next big meme that will be featured in a national TV spot!
I don’t know… all those San Jose Sharks fans who are ready to plan the parade just sound like a bunch of SAPs.— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) October 13, 2013
And let's just say... Logan Couture is pretty lucky that this whole "awesome hockey player" thing worked out...
Looking forward to everyone posting #loganface tomorrow night.— Eric (@Holy_Toffoli) November 27, 2013
Because bowling is not his thing.
