PHILADELPHIA FLYERS VS JEFF CARTER POINTS UPDATE:
LooKING Back:The LA Kings earned a hard-fought 2-1 shootout victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night, where they faced a backup goaltender with an impressive body of work.
In 146 career minutes against Los Angeles, Richard Bachman has stopped 69 of 71 shots.— Jon Rosen (@lakingsinsider) October 28, 2013
But even Richard Bachman's stellar save percentage wasn't the best looking thing on the ice Sunday night.
We are all in agreement here that Luke Gadzic is checking himself out, right?
WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:Apparently, hockey fans in the middle of Alberta... really, really, really care about the 3 Stars of the Game.
@JonathanWillis Quick was 1st star in LA arena, Bachman second. What?— Rob (@OilinEdm) October 28, 2013
Missed the game due to zzZzzZzz... were they really outshot 48-18?? Any why was Quick 1st star and not Bachman?— That Swiss guy (@martinandreoli) October 28, 2013
How does Quick get 1st star and not Bachman... He stopped like 10 shots all night...— Jess † (@ThatsJustRacing) October 28, 2013
Bachman the SECOND star in LA with 47 saves behind Jonathan Quick? Staples Center housemen made that pick.— Robin Brownlee (@Robin_Brownlee) October 28, 2013
I feel like "housemen" is not politically correct, right?
Man, Edmonton Oilers fans need to chill out. It's not like you win an award by getting the most 3 Stars in a game or anythWHAAAAAAAAAA?!?!
So apparently every season since 1979-80, the Edmonton Oilers have awarded something called "The Molson Cup" to the player that earns the most cumulative 3 Stars nominations. To be fair, at least the Molson Cup guarantees that the Edmonton Oilers win something each year besides the Draft Lottery. I'm just glad that the Oilers are the only team in Canada dumb enough to give out an award for being selected one of the top 3 Stars by the home team's media.
And this whole time I thought the Buffalo Sabres won the Moulson Cup.
LA TOURISM BOARD:Since getting embarrassed by Dwight King less than a week ago, the Phoenix Coyotes went on to beat the Edmonton Oilers in a totally wacky game. But most importantly, center Martin Hanzal has been suspended for 2 games, meaning that hockey fans everywhere will be spared for a few days from seeing "Hanzal, so hot right now" on Twitter.
