Kings and Mister Cartoon strike unique deal
THIS THURSDAY AT STAPLES CENTER AS PART OF A SPECIAL PRE-GAME EVENT
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings and local art legend Mister Cartoon are excited to announce an innovative, multi-level marketing and community-based partnership in which the artist will create a new.
Synonymous with the street and youth culture of Los Angeles, Mister Cartoon has turned his pen to re-imagining the iconography of the Kings. Mister Cartoon was entrusted with re-imagining the Kings’ merchandise with the classic artist’s touch, and he launched the unique project with the community in mind.
To help kick-off the new collaboration, Mister Cartoon and the Kings will partner on a special event:
n On Thursday, prior to the Kings-Phoenix game, Mister Cartoon and the Kings will host a special private/media unveiling of the new product line at STAPLES Center from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (location: Main Concourse across from Aisle 22 adjacent to the TEAM LA Store – Kings media and photo credentials will provide access…please RSVP).
Along with the creation of a line (t-shirts and hats) of iconic Kings merchandise, Mister Cartoon also plans to reveal one specially painted goalie mask adorned with symbolic Los Angeles – and classic Mister Cartoon – icons that will be worn by Kings goalie Jonathan Quick in a game. Airbrushed in the time-honored colors of black and silver, the masks represent “the juxtaposition of battle as the Kings defend their city on the ice this season.”
Mister Cartoon X LA Kings merchandise will be available to purchase at the Los Angeles Kings home base – the TEAM LA Store at STAPLES Center in Downtown Los Angeles -- and online at teamlastore.com. A slate of limited edition items from the collaboration will be available beginning this Thursday.
“The Kings are thrilled to be collaborating with Mister Cartoon – this is a pairing of two Los Angeles icons,” said Luc Robitaille, Kings President of Business Operations. “We look forward to celebrating this merchandise line.”
As Los Angeles represents the heart of the Kings and lies at the core of Mister Cartoon’s inspiration, neither party will miss this opportunity to give back to the community. A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to Para Los Niños, a 33 year old non-profit organization providing high-quality education, family support services and community engagement programs to 7,500 children and families each year.
Said Mister Cartoon: “This project hits home to me in many special ways. From growing up as a fan of the Kings and driving past the arena they used to play at, to the classic script on the caps worn by fashion forward kids and Kings fans, the Kings are Los Angeles, the Kings are a cornerstone of Los Angeles street heritage. This opportunity is an honor.”
Yesterday, Mister Cartoon unveiled a Kings-based mural at Para Los Niños Charter Middle School in Los Angeles.
