PHILADELPHIA FLYERS VS JEFF CARTER POINTS UPDATE:
LooKING Back:The LA Kings put together their most complete game of the season Saturday night at Staples Center, beating the Central Division's Dallas Stars, 5-2. That brings the LA Kings record this year against teams that didn't make the playoffs last season to an impressive 4-2. But most importantly, after a long road trip to the East Coast, the LA Kings players are back home and finally able to sleep in their own beds with their loved ones again.
Just when you think this is the most amazing photo of all time...
...you realize there is a LA Kings box of tissues on the side table. And trust me... a lot of the LA Kings players could use a good night of rest.
WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:Don't look now... but the LA Kings are 5-1 this season with Daniel Carcillo in the lineup. And when he's not busy scoring clutch goals that are featured on Kings Weekly... he's making Kings fans everywhere jump up in excitement! (Or at least type on their laptops/mobile devices)
@LAKings i hope to see another fight carcillo is so awesome — shelby!! (@zourrycide) October 20, 2013
Siiiiick fight Carcillo! Oh and I love sitting right by the penalty box.. Get to hear him bag on Dallas through the box — Courtney Sanders (@CourtneySaysYee) October 20, 2013
carcillo's just gonna fight everyone — Katie Dzwierzynski (@kdzwierzynski) October 20, 2013
Carcillo is an intense competitor. For instance, with 49.4 seconds left in Saturday's game, as the LA Kings called a timeout, #TeamTRH'er, PumperNicholl, noticed something peculiar about Carcillo on the bench.
LA TOURISM BOARD:The Calgary Flames are back to being a Divisional Rival of the LA Kings. Which is good news because the Kings and Flames had some great battles over the years in the Smythe Division. The only difference between those Flames teams of the old Smythe Divsion and now is that the current Flames team is really terrible.
But the most surprising element of the Calgary Flames is their Captain, Mark Giordano. Surprising in the sense that no one who follows the NHL knows who he is. (Well, except for Dustin Brown.)
Yeah, no idea. Sorry.
THE TRH TOP 5 CAPTAINS THAT ARE LESS WELL KNOWN THAN MARK GIORDANO
5) CAPTAIN BRITAIN
Unlike his American counterpart, Captain Britain has flown completely under the comic book revival radar. Captain Britain gained his power when he was given a choice between the "Amulet of Right" or the "Sword of Might." Captain Britain chose the Amulet. Coincidentally, Jay Bouwmeester made this same choice while playing in Calgary. In fact, this Captain is so obscure... he even died off-panel in a comic book.4) CAPTAIN PIKE
Captain Pike was the original Captain of the USS Enterprise in the 1964 NBC Star Trek pilot. When a second pilot was commissioned, the actor who portrayed Captain Pike, Jeffery Hunter, wanted to pursue his film career instead of continuing on with the television series. It was a similar decision to what Jarome Iginla made last season. Hunter was rumored to have a massive drinking problem, which ultimately led to his death. Iginla is playing for Boston.3) CAPTAIN RON Released in 1992, the Kurt Russell-Martin Short vehicle bombed at the box office, and was universally panned by critics. But, as the years have gone on... this film has actually become quite popular and gained a cult-like status. Just like Martin St. Louis, who the Calgary Flames let go as an unrestricted free agent in 2000.
#NeverForget2) CAP' N CRUNCH ALIEN
Cap' N Crunch Alien was from outer space and brought all the boys and girls of North America a brand new cereal called CoZmic Crunch... which featured multicolored bits of corn and oats plus a packet of orange space dust that when poured into the bowl would turn the milk green.
CoZmic Crunch is not to be confused with Darryl Sutter, the Calgary Flames GM from Viking, Alberta who featured Jay Bouwmeester, Olli Jokinen, Tony Amonte, Todd Bertuzzi, Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and Ian White that when put onto the ice in Calgary, made Flames fans' stomachs turn green.1) SHANE DOAN
Shane Doan is the Captain of a hockey team in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona. You really can't get more obscure than that.
