LooKING Back:Wednesday night in Los Angeles, the Kings narrowly escaped losing a 3-0 lead and beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime. And even though Captain Dustin Brown had two goals... it's easy to see that a new leader from the ranks is rising up to steer this Kings ship.
Oh, whoops... sorry... give me one second here...
Nailed it, DC Sport Shopped.
WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:Many fans also heralded the return of Alec Martinez last game and I just wish there was some way to visually represent how the LA Kings play with Alec Martinez in the lineup.
Including playoffs, the Kings are 18-6-1 in the last 25 games Alec Martinez has played.— Jon Rosen (@lakingsinsider) October 10, 2013
LA TOURISM BOARD:The Carolina Hurricanes are on the home end of back-to-back games in which they beat the Washington Capitals yesterday in DC, 3-2. Jeff Skinner is rebounding from an injury-filled season by leading the team in points and rookie Elias Lindholm has looked strong in early play. But the most obvious struggle for the Carolina Hurricanes have been the complete and total lack of celebrities in their team marketing campaigns. In stark comparison to the Hurricanes, the LA Kings have launched an impressive marketing campaign this season, revolving around the phrase "We Are All Kings."
Jerry Bruckheimer loves the Kings so much, he put them on TV... kinda.
So since The Royal Half now has unprecedented access to the Los Angeles Kings... as we were emptying the trash cans of the LA Kings Marketing Department... we discovered some unused #WeAreAllKings promos that pair a LA Kings player with a celebrity contemporary that showcases a similar passion for the sport of hockey.
BEN SCRIVENS AND ALBERT EINSTEIN
It's no secret that Ben Scrivens is one of the most intelligent players on this (and probably any all-time) LA Kings roster. He spends his time listening to informative podcasts and retweeting astrophysicists. So pairing him with Albert Einstein as his celebrity counterpart just makes sense. But mainly because they are both goalies.
DUSTIN BROWN AND BROBEE
Dustin Brown is a leader... a Stanley Cup Champion... an Olympic Silver Medal Winner... but when his kids want him to dance on stage with the cast of Yo Gabba Gabba...
...then he dances on stage with the cast of Yo Gabba Gabba.
BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT LEADERS DO!
TREVOR LEWIS AND JOHN WAYNE
John Wayne wasn't simply a famous American actor... he was a beloved icon who came to symbolize what it means to be a great American. And coming this February in Sochi, Russia... Trevor Lewis won't simply be an lesser-known third-line right wing/center for an American hockey team... he'll become a beloved icon that has come to symbolize what it means to be a great American. And maybe, just one day... Trevor Lewis can also star in a hockey movie.
DREW DOUGHTY AND BIG BROTHER WINNER, ANDY HERREN
There really is no hockey or celebrity connection between Drew Doughty and the winner of Big Brother 15, Andy Herren. Doughty just begged the LA Kings Marketing Department for a chance to meet Herren because he's a huge fan.
Worst big brother season in a while. Terrible final 2. Need a bb all stars next summer #bb15#bringbackian— drew doughty (@dewyy8) September 19, 2013
JEFF CARTER AND MIKE RICHARDS
Look, if #WeAreAllKings is truly going to be a marketing campaign that focuses on the respect and admiration between a LA Kings player and a celebrity... then why not highlight the two people who are both LA Kings players AND celebrities and also have incredible respect and admiration for each other!!!I really hope that the LA Kings continue to release more of these #WeAreAllKings pairings. Because I think that fans already have a good idea what the next one should be:
