Kings To Wear Alternate Jersey Final Time on Tuesday

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings will wear their alternate jersey for the final time tomorrow, Tuesday night, the club officially announced today.

The club’s official alternate sweater -- the Crown/black jersey -- will be worn for the final times tonight, Monday, and Tuesday when the Kings host the Phoenix Coyotes on consecutive nights at STAPLES Center.

That jersey was the club’s primary home jersey from 2002-11. In November of 2008 the Kings introduced a new silver-and-black alternate jersey. That jersey -- which prominently features “LA” on the jersey crest -- became the club’s primary jersey beginning last season.

The Kings are encouraging fans to wear ‘Purple Crown Gear’ to both of the games contests. Team LA and the Kings Ice Crew will be awarding the most passionate fans wearing their purple crown gear with special prizes.

Fans are also encouraged to check out a special ‘Purple Crown Pride Sale’ at the Team LA store at STAPLES Center as all Kings purple crown gear is 50 percent off. The Purple Crown Pride Sale is open to the public on Monday and Tuesday from 9 am – 4 pm. The sale continues during game hours.

MEIGRAY, THE OFFICIAL GAME-WORN JERSEY SOURCE OF THE LA KINGS, WILL BE AUTHENTICATING THESE JERSEYS AFTER TUESDAY'S GAME AND PLACING THEM UP FOR BID AT AUCTIONS.NHL.COM. CHECK OUT MEIGRAY.COM TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE AUCTION. AND CHECK OUT MEIGRAY.COM TO ORDER A BLACK, WHITE OR PURPLE VINTAGE GAME-WORN JERSEY FROM YOUR FAVORITE KING.

In addition the Kings Care Foundation on Monday and Tuesday will be auctioning/selling special gear from the Kings locker room.

LA Kings Jersey Notes:

Beginning in 2011-12, the Kings officially made the following changes as it pertains to team colors and uniforms:

• The Kings’ official team colors changed to black, silver and white.

• The Kings’ primary home uniform switched to the black-silver-and-white uniform the club had worn as an alternate jersey the previous two seasons.

• The Kings introduced a newly-created white version of that jersey for road games.

The Kings host the Coyotes tonight at STAPLES Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game will air on FS West and KTLK 1150, with pregame shows beginning at 7 p.m.
