Kings Honored At Awards Luncheon
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings today were presented with the OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for winning the Stanley Cup championship in 2012 at the annual Southern California Sports Broadcasters (SCSB) luncheon at Lakeside Golf Club in Burbank. Accepting the award on the team’s behalf was Kings President, Business Operations and Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille.
In addition, Bob Miller, who hosted the event, won the award for TV Play-By-Play. It was the ninth time Miller has received this honor.
Also nominated for awards were Nick Nickson (Radio Talk Show), Jim Fox and Patrick O’Neal (TV Pre and Post Game). Fox, the Kings’ television color commentator, had won three consecutive TV Analyst awards so he was ineligible in that category this year. Entering today’s luncheon he had also won two TV Pre and Post Game awards.
Among those representing the Kings today at the luncheon were Robitaille, Chief Operating Officer Kelly Cheeseman, Miller, Nickson, Fox and radio color commentator Daryl Evans. Both Nickson and Miller are members of the SCSB Hall of Fame.
AEG’s LA Galaxy, back-to-back MLS Champions in 2011 and 2012, also was honored with a Special Achievement award.
The Kings host the Canucks tonight at STAPLES Center at 7:30 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive a Replica Championship Ring presented by FOX Sports West.
The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports West and on KTLK AM 1150.
