Sure, it may have taken exactly 100 days or so from when the Los Angeles Kings Stanley Cup Banner was supposed to be raised to the rafters at Staples Center until today... but who is counting? (EDITORS NOTE: Thousands upon thousands of LA Kings fans have been counting, that is whom.) So on Saturday, January 19th when the 2013 NHL Season begins at last LA Kings fans can finally experience what they've all been waiting since June 11th of last year to see...

No.

Nope.

Not even close.

It's not rings or banners or what new foods are on the Staples Center menu that LA Kings fans are curious about this Opening Night Day Afternoon... no... LA Kings fans care about one thing and one thing only...

WHAT DID THE LA KINGS DO DURING THEIR SUMMER VACATION?!?

Unwilling to waste a great playoff beard, Dustin Brown spent most
of his summer participating in Civil War reenactments.

Anze Kopitar spent most of his summer shopping at Ikea.

Since he was rehabbing from back surgery, Jon Quick spent the summer providing a
brick wall so the Boys and Girls Club of Connecticut could play handball finally.

Willie Mitchell hugged Canadian trees all summer.

Jarret Stoll spent his summer in Los Angeles.

Jon Bernier "played" in Europe.

Drew Doughty relaxed.

Dean Lombardi taught a class at UCLA on physics.

Mike Richards spent another quiet summer on the Lake with Jeff Carter.

Dustin Penner finally found an off-season training regime that speaks to his skillset.

Darryl Sutter sat on his farm and waited until he got a call from Dean Lombardi that hockey was starting.
Wait... who am I kidding? There is no way Darryl Sutter sat around and did nothing all summer...

That's more like it, Coach.

And perhaps... most appropriately...

Rob Scuderi sat and stared at the wall until hockey began again.

There you have it... what most of the Los Angeles Kings did with their extended summer vacation. As LA Kings fans... let's just be glad that summer vacation is over and our most favorite ice hockey team can finally do what we've been waiting 45 years for them to do... defend their Stanley Cup Championship!!! And based on his Tweets all summer long... I can't wait to see what the LA Kings have planned for their In-Game Entertainment this season!

DJ Penn and the Funky Bunch.

I've been waiting exactly 25 years... but I'll be at Staples Center Saturday afternoon as the Los Angeles Kings raise their Stanley Cup Champions banner. Man... you have NO idea how exciting it is to write those words.

Special thanks to Indiana Matt and Ironsight Design for their mad photoshopping skills.
