Kings Acquire Anthony Stewart And Draft Picks From Carolina For Kevin Westgarth
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Anthony Stewart from the Carolina Hurricanes along with their fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft and their sixth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft in exchange for forward Kevin Westgarth, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Stewart, 28, has played in 262 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Atlanta Thrashers and Florida Panthers. He has recorded 71 points (7-44=71) and 123 penalty minutes.
A 6-3, 230-pound native of La Salle, Quebec, Stewart last year played in 77 games for Carolina and he recorded 11 points (6-5=11). The previous season he recorded a career-high 14 goals with the Thrashers.
He was originally selected by the Panthers in the first-round (25th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Westgarth has played in 90 regular season games with the Kings dating back to the 2008-09 season. Last year he played in 25 regular season games and had two points (1-1=2).
