"Sandley" Cup To Be Displayed At Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE
The Los Angeles Kings will be building a special “Sandley” Cup in Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE as part of NHL Playoff festivities.
Beginning this Saturday between 7 – 9 a.m., close to 30 tons of sand will arrive at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE (in the area next to the Toyota car display / outside Starbucks) to begin the process of creating a unique and original Kings sand sculpture.
Built by a seven-time U.S. Open champion, the final product will feature a 12-14 foot Stanley Cup; a life size depiction of goalie Jonathan Quick in net; and three or four Kings jerseys showcasing player names and numbers all built within one 20x20 space.
It is expected to be completed between 3- 5 p.m. on Sunday. Also fans on Sunday can enjoy the official Kings watch party at ESPN Zone L.A. LIVE with Bailey, Jay Flats and members of the Ice Crew. There will be food and drink specials along with raffles and prize giveaways throughout the night.
