Leprechauns wouldn’t exist without this holiday, so of course St. Patty’s Day deserves its own edition of “Off the Post.”
The days of hunting for lucky four-leaf clovers in the elementary school grass field may long be over, but it’s not unheard of for people to keep items they believe bring them luck.
Many fans think that professional athletes are superstitious, but are they? Kings players divulge their ‘lucky’ possessions, and spill the beans about which of their teammates they feel always has the luck o’ the Irish!
The Shot: Do you have a ‘lucky’ object?
The Pass: Which of your teammates generally has the most luck?
Matt Greene
Shot: (Thinking…) No – if I have to think that hard, probably not, huh?
Pass: Justin Williams
Jarret Stoll
Shot: No
Pass: Drew Doughty
Mike Richards
Shot: No
Pass: Drew Doughty
Colin Fraser
Shot: No…does anyone?
Pass: Kyle Clifford?
Trevor Lewis
Shot: No
Pass: Drew Doughty
Kyle Clifford
Shot: No…myself?
Pass: I don’t know!
Jonathan Bernier
Shot: My neck chain with a cross on it.
Pass: Kyle Clifford
Alec Martinez
Shot: Absolutely not!
Pass: Definitely Drew Doughty because of the football pools.
Brad Richardson
Shot: Not really, no.
Pass: Justin Williams
Kevin Westgarth
Shot: My wife!
Pass: Maybe Jonathan Quick – you gotta be good to be lucky.
Davis Drewiske
Shot: Not really.
Pass: Brad Richardson or Justin Williams – it’s a tie!
Dwight King
Shot: I don’t – I’m not very superstitious.
Pass: I would say Anze Kopitar because he has the most points, but obviously he makes his own luck.
Jordan Nolan
Shot: No
Pass: Jeff Carter, lately!
Justin Williams
Shot: No
Pass: Drew Doughty
*Editor’s Note: Throughout the season, LAKings.com staff writer Deborah Lew will boldly seek to satisfy the burning curiosity of fans by using current events and thought-provoking creativity to get a comprehensive off-the-ice look at the boys who’ve captured our hearts and our attention span 82+ nights every year. Each edition will feature two questions: 1) The “Shot,” which will relate to the player giving the answer; and 2) The “Pass,” which will ask the player to name a teammate. Keep checking back for new exciting editions of “Off the Post!”
