Vey Named Reebok/AHL Rookie Of The Month

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, and the American Hockey League announced today that right wing Linden Vey has been named the Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Month for February. Vey recorded six goals and eight assists for 14 points, along with a plus-9 rating, in 12 games during the month.
Vey began the month by matching a season high with three points in Manchester’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Binghamton Senators on February 3. His goal on February 4 gave the Monarchs the lead for good in a 3-2 win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and he extended his scoring streak to four games with an assist each on February 7 vs. the Portland Pirates and February 10 against the Worcester Sharks. Vey scored shorthanded and added an assist on February 19 vs. the Adirondack Phantoms, and recorded two goals, an assist, a shootout goal and a team-record plus-5 rating against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on February 23. Vey finished the month by scoring the game-winning goal and notching an assist in a 4-3 win over the Providence Bruins on February 26.
The 20-year-old Vey has tallied 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points while skating in 57 games for Manchester this season, good for the team scoring lead. Vey, a native of Wakaw, Saskatchewan, played four junior seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers and led the Western Hockey League in scoring with 116 points in 2010-11. He was selected by Los Angeles in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
In recognition of his achievement, Vey will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Monarchs home game.
