ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (28-15-2-2), proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, got back to their winning ways with a 4-0 drubbing of the Utah Grizzlies (20-23-0-5) before 8,481 Saturday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Mike Gabinet, Jason Fredricks, and Alan Mazur each scored their first goals of the season and J. F. Berube turned aside all 22 of the shots he faced for his third shutout of the season. Kyle Kraemer assisted on all three of the blueliner's markers.
The game neared the midway point of the contest with no score before the Reign drew first blood with a power-play goal at 8:44 of the second period. Tristan King worked the puck behind the net to Kraemer who hit Gabinet for the one-timer.
The Reign jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third period with a pair of goals 40 seconds apart. C.J. Stretch scored his 20th goal of the season at 9:28 with a backhander. Kevin Estrada and Vincent LoVerde had assists on the play. Fredricks scored at 10:08 as he collected a loose puck at the right faceoff dot then spun and fired a wrist shot past goaltender Jimmy Spratt all in one motion. Mazur put the game away at 15:07 with a shot through traffic that appeared to glance off of a Grizzlies player on its way into the net.
