Reign’s Chris Carrozzi Named ECHL Goaltender of the Month

ONTARIO, Calif.- The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, are pleased to announce that goaltender Chris Carrozzi has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for January.
Carrozzi was 6-0-1 with two shutouts, a 1.26 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage during the month, extending his personal unbeaten streak to 10 games (8-0-2).
The 21-year-old opened the month with back-to-back shutouts at Idaho and against Las Vegas as he combined with teammate Jean-Francois Berube to set an ECHL regular-season record with 224:14 of consecutive shutout time from Jan. 6-13. After suffering a 2-1 overtime loss at Las Vegas on Jan. 13, Carrozzi ended the month with four consecutive wins, including a 2-1 overtime win at Bakersfield on Jan. 27 and a 4-3 shootout win against Alaska on Jan. 31.
A native of Nepean, Ontario, Carrozzi is 9-5-1 in 19 appearances this season with Ontario and Colorado. He is tied for second in the league with three shutouts, is third with a .923 save percentage and is tied for fourth with a 2.19 goals-against average.
Selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the sixth round (154th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and under contract to Winnipeg of the National Hockey League, Carrozzi is 25-25-9 with five shutouts, a 2.92 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903 in 66 career ECHL games with Gwinnett, Colorado and Ontario, and has seen action in one American Hockey League game with Chicago last season.
In 2010, Carrozzi was named the Ontario Hockey League goaltender of the year after leading the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors to the Eastern Conference finals.
