KINGS HEAD COACH DARRYL SUTTER:
(Re winning at the final buzzer):  “I don’t know.  I can’t even remember the last second of tonight.  I don’t know.  Probably.  But the big thing is you have the red light to come on and it used to be you never had a tenth [of a second].  It was just a clock.”

(Re game recap): “We were real average quite honest. The difference between this game and last time we played Columbus was special teams. The last time we had three power plays and didn’t score on any and this time we scored two power-play goals and that was the difference in the game.”

KINGS DEFENSEMAN DREW DOUGHTY:
(Re scoring at the final buzzer): “I haven’t really scored very many with game-winners, where it’s in overtime, or even at the last minute to win a game so it was a good feeling for me but I’m just happy we won the game.”

(Re potentially losing to Columbus): “We’ve struggled with them a bit this year.  I don’t know what the reason is.  Maybe we take them too lightly going into the game but we got the win tonight.  We still didn’t play our best and that’s a good thing because we’ve got a lot to look forward to when we do play our best.”

(Re game importance): “It was huge.  It’s tough to come back from a long five-day break like that and get a win.  Mentally it was good for us to kind of get away.  But it’s hard to get back into that first game.  I thought we did an all right job in the first period.  A little slow in the second and third but like I said we got that first win and it’s a huge momentum going into this road trip.”

KINGS FORWARD JUSTIN WILLIAMS:
(Re game recap): “We’ve been on the losing end of a multitude of both overtime and shootout losses.  It feels good to get this one and not give the extra point up.  And it also feels good to get two goals on the power play.”

COLUMBUS HEAD COACH TODD RICHARDS:
(Re timing on game-winning goal): “Well, I don’t have anything official, any official report. Watching the replay and talking with our producer who runs our show, the clock stopped at 1.8 seconds, and it stopped for 1.5 seconds, and they scored with 0.5 seconds. Something happened and it’s really disappointing because I thought our guys battled and worked hard. They fought for 60 minutes and they deserve something, but they leave here feeling the negativity of a loss and the disappoint there, so I’m really disappointed for the players.”

(Re team effort): “We competed. We weren’t perfect for 60 minutes. They’re a good team so they’re going to create things offensively and create opportunities for themselves. I liked the way that we competed with getting down 1-0 and continuing to battle, down 2-1 and continuing to battle. Guys were getting in front of shots and taking hits to make plays. They’re a big team and they play a big, heavy game. Right now, with the guys that we have, we aren’t as big of a team so we have to work extra hard. I thought the guys worked harder and they deserve something out of tonight.”

COLUMBUS FORWARD COLTON GILLIES:
(Re game recap): “Everyone came out hard tonight. For the first two periods we got work done. I don’t know if it was the fatigue of back-to-back nights or what it was. It’s just tough luck at the end there. Vermette made a great pass to me and that is something I will always remember.”

(Re which loss feels worse in last two games): “Ah man, I think this one feels worse, especially when everyone played so hard. I thought maybe we could have served a little better tonight, but honestly that’s the way the game goes sometimes. I thought everyone left it on the ice, so it was good for the boys.”

(Re team effort): “I think everyone is still trying to put the pieces together here and I know there are a lot of new guys in the lineup. I thought everyone played great and I think everyone should hold their heads high tonight.”
