‘Tis the Season. Holiday memories are a very prominent part of childhood and many traditions get passed on for many generations.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year (except for maybe Matt Greene, whose favorite holiday is Halloween), and the Kings players, who hail from various points of the globe, all have their favorite memories from the season during which every hopeful kid makes extra sure he or she is on the “nice” list!
Find out whose memories are traditional, whose are a little ‘off the post,’ and who could best bribe Saint Nick himself!
The Shot: What is your favorite holiday memory?
The Pass: Which of your teammates would leave the best snack for Santa?
Jonathan Bernier
Shot: I found all my gifts in their hiding spots and opened them before Christmas!
Pass: Drew Doughty
Dustin Penner
Shot: Spending Christmas morning with my family.
Pass: Matt Greene
Jack Johnson
Shot: Waking up to presents on Christmas day!
Pass: Rob Scuderi
Jonathan Quick
Shot: Spending time with family, eating good food, getting to relax all day.
Pass: Alec Martinez…or Drew Doughty’s nachos are pretty good.
Alec Martinez
Shot: Spending time with family.
Pass: Maybe Jonathan Quick – his wife makes us good snacks for the road!
Trevor Lewis
Shot: Putting up my Christmas tree.
Pass: Willie Mitchell because he loves food.
Matt Greene
Shot: Turkey dinner.
Pass: Mike Richards – he’s got a pretty good sweet tooth. A lot of candy goes through that guy!
Kyle Clifford
Shot: Waking my parents up – mom and dad sleeping in different rooms just to hide from us because we would be up at 5 am!
Pass: Dustin Penner
Jarret Stoll
Shot: Sleeping over at my grandparents house in Saskatchewan, having sleepovers with the cousins, staying up until all hours of the night and being goofy.
Pass: Mike Richards – he’s always snacking on chocolate bars, Snickers and M&M’s!
Kevin Westgarth
Shot: Spending time at home with friends and family.
Pass: Matt Greene – I feel like he has a pretty good understanding of what Santa wants and needs after a long night of work!
Willie Mitchell
Shot: Walking out in our backyard, which was a forest, and wandering around deciding which Christmas tree we were going to cut down. Cut it down, drag it through the brush, put it on the back of the truck, brought it home, sometimes we would lose it on the way home and it would come off the back of the pickup!
Pass: Worst would be Drew Doughty because he wouldn’t take the time or have the patience to leave a nice snack. Best would be Dustin Brown because he’s got a lot of kids so he’d probably spend a lot of time on it.
Anze Kopitar
Shot: Christmas is my favorite holiday, so every single Christmas is nice, but I remember one, the big present when I got my skates, and that night I went to sleep with them on – that was pretty memorable. The fact that I went through the night with my skates on was pretty impressive!
Pass: Rob Scuderi
