KINGS HEAD COACH TERRY MURRAY:
(Re game recap): “There was a lot of penalties…Just coming back with more power plays against us makes it hard, but you have got to have good goaltending and [Quick] was. It shortens the bench; it takes a lot of guys out of the game, tough to get a flow going...The penalty killers did a good job, especially when you lose Willie Mitchell in the back end. He’s a very good penalty killer. He plays one shift only. And then as the game goes along Mike Richards is gone; he’s a pretty good penalty killer. It put a little bit of pressure on some guys, but everybody stepped it up and we got the job done…[Florida]  used a lot of speed, took the puck to the net really hard…they played hard and it ended up being a good win for us. Great goal, actually, to win the game.”

(Re will Richards and Mitchell miss games): “I hope not. I don’t know yet. I haven’t gotten a full report yet. The trainers are busy and evaluating and will probably know before I get away here tonight. We’ll have a better idea tomorrow.”

KINGS GOALIE JONATHAN QUICK:
(Re penalty kill):  “It’s been good these past few games.  We put a really big effort on it last game.  We had a streak of maybe five or six games where we let up a goal in each game.  It’s something as a team we’re not used to and we know we’re better than that.  It’s been something we’ve been making a big push on.  The whole team is just a ‘way to go out there for the PK mentality’ and it’s been great.”

(Re defense after Willie Mitchell injury): “Yeah they stepped up huge here.  That’s a big hole on the blue line that we lost for majority of the game.  Guys played big minutes and they played them well. It was a huge effort on the back end from these guys and we got two points out of it because of that.”

KINGS DEFENSEMAN JACK JOHNSON:
(Re Jonathan Quick): “He’s been awesome.  We’ve been winning games being an offensively challenged team and it’s mainly because of him.  We only gave up one goal again tonight.  They [Florida Panthers] had a lot of chances, too, and he played spectacular.”

(Re goal): “Greener [Matt Greene] made a nice pass over to me.  I don’t think he had much of a lane to get the puck through.  He made a nice pass over to me and I just kind of dropped the shoulder hoping the guy in front of me would go one way or the other and I got a lucky break.  It hit the guy in front and it was about time we got a lucky bounce as a team.  Hopefully we can get a few more here and score some more goals.”

FLORIDA HEAD COACH KEVIN DINEEN:
(Re game recap): “We thoroughly outplayed them. They were trying to run around and chase us and hack us and slash us. When you are getting outplayed as badly as they were that’s the response. We walk out of here feeling very good about the way we played and we move forward from there.”

(Re goaltending): “Goaltending was a strong point at both ends of the ice. There was plenty of opportunities and their goalie [Jonathan Quick] certainly got them a couple of points and Theo [goalie Jose Theodore] gave us every chance to win.”

(Re physicality): “We didn’t need to get physical. All they were trying to do was crosscheck and they let a lot of things go late in the game. When you are outplaying a team by a wide margin you stick with what was working for you and they had a real tough time handling our speed.”

FLORIDA FORWARD STEPHEN WEISS:
(Re game recap): “We had great chances all night. Like I said before, it was one of our better efforts but they just weren’t going in for us tonight.”

(Re goaltending): “They [the goalies] were both awesome. Theo [Jose Theodore] was fantastic again for us. He kept us in it when he had to and obviously their goalie played well as well and made some big saves and we didn’t have the answer for them.”

(Re next game at San Jose): “That’s the goal every night is to get two points. We will regroup and hopefully have the same effort again against San Jose and hopefully get some bounces.”
