Doughty Activated; Voynov Assigned To Manchester

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have activated defensemen Drew Doughty from the injured reserve list and have re-assigned defenseman Slava Voynov to the American Hockey League’s Manchester Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Doughty, 21, has missed the last five games after suffering an upper body injury in the Kings-Flyers game in Philadelphia on Oct. 15.  In four games this season he has one point (an assist) and two penalty minutes.  The 6-0, 212-pound native of London, Ontario was signed to an eight-year contract (longest in club history) on Sept. 30.

Voynov, has played in five games with the Kings (first five career NHL games) recording three points (2-1=3), zero penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating.  Voynov collected all three of those points, including the game-winning goal, Thursday in the Kings’ 5-3 victory at Dallas.  The 5-11, 199-pound native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, has also played in two games this season with the Monarchs, recording two points (1-1=2), two penalty minutes and a plus-five rating.  Voynov was selected by the Kings in the second-round (32nd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Kings (6-2-1) return to action tonight at Jobing.com Arena against the Phoenix Coyotes.  Game-time is slated for 6 p.m.  The Kings will conclude their three-game road trip tomorrow in Denver against the Avalanche, with game-time slated for 5 p.m. (PT).  Both games will be broadcast on FS West, KTLK 1150 AM and along the Kings Radio Network.
