Q: What are you working on right now in anticipation of the start of the season?
A: Outside of the playoffs, the months of September and October are the busiest ones for our department. It is when the sport of hockey and the business of hockey really come together. You have been making plans and preparations all season – it really accelerates once the schedule comes out – and now you are really implementing everything. It really ramps up as the players come back to town and start skating and of course when the games begin.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most this year?
A: I personally think it is an honor when your club gets selected by the NHL to go overseas and play in the Premiere Games and I also feel very fortunate to go as we get to experience sports in a very different way.
Q: What is your all-time favorite Kings moment?
A: Several – The games in London and Austria five years ago; Luc Robitaille’s Hockey Hall of Fame weekend in Toronto; the last 40 Kings playoff games of which I have been at all of them; the opening of STAPLES Center in 1999; my first road trip in 1997; and my days as an intern when Wayne Gretzky was still on the team at the Forum. Also getting to work with a lot of good players over the years like Luc, Ian Laperreire, Stephane Fiset, Jeremy Roenick, Craig Johnson, Jaroslav Modry and Derek Armstrong to name but a few.
Q: What did you do this summer for fun?
My wife and I went to Brazil for a week. I also got to go to the MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix and we went to New York for a couple of days for fun.
