Home Opener Going On Sale This Week
Single-game tickets for the Home Opener at STAPLES Center and two preseason games go on sale this Thursday, August 18
The Kings will open the 2011-12 regular season with four games away from STAPLES Center – including two games in Europe – before hosting the St. Louis Blues at STAPLES Center as part of the team’s Home Opener on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
On Friday, Oct. 7, the Kings will play the New York Rangers at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The next day, Saturday, Oct. 8, the Kings and the Buffalo Sabres will play each other at O2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany. The Kings are the designated “home team” for both games. The Kings will then travel from Berlin to the East Coast where they have a two-game road trip – at New Jersey on Oct. 13 and at Philadelphia on Oct. 15 – before returning to Los Angeles to prepare for their Home Opener at STAPLES Center on Oct. 18.
- Last season the Kings sold out STAPLES Center 38 times – 35 times during the regular season and three times during the postseason – in what was a record-setting year at the Box Office. The 35 regular season sellouts were the most in STAPLES Center history (1999-present) and the most sellouts overall for the team since the 1991-92 season (40 sellouts that year). In addition, the Kings regular season average attendance of 18,083 last year was the highest in team history, surpassing the previous high mark of 17,857 established during the 2003-04 season.
- The momentum from last season has also carried into the summer as the Kings continue to sell season tickets at a record pace, and several price categories have sold out. In addition, the Kings have created two new season seat programs – The Crown Club and the Supporters' Group, which includes season ticket membership in the lower bowl for just $45 per game – one of the lowest prices in the NHL.
Single game tickets go on sale to the general public on Sept. 7 – four days before the start of LA Kings Hockey Fest ’11 presented by Pizza Hut, at STAPLES Center. Tickets are also currently on sale for Frozen Fury XIIII, the Kings’ annual preseason game at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Oct. 1 against Colorado.
“Tickets continue to sell at a record-breaking pace, especially with the new additions we made to our team this summer,” said Kings Chief Operating Officer Chris McGowan. “With demand for tickets and ticket packages at an all-time high, and the launch of our new Supporter’s Group and Crown Club, we anticipate reaching a record number of sellouts once again this season. Like our passionate fans, we as an organization are extremely excited about our team and the new season. Together, our team and our fans will create electricity at STAPLES Center like never before.”
